Great to have Sandra Bouwhuis and her @commonternproject.bsky.social in our SFB team! Check out her latest outreach project:
Proud to present: Suitcase Science, a new outreach format containing 6 assignments to take on a journey to schools in the region, to teach kids about terns, how to study them, their fascinating behaviour and some of the things that threaten them. Wanna book us? Drop me a line. :-)

We're excited to welcome Dr. Alina Sigaeva, a cell biologist, to SFB 1372👩‍🔬🙌
Her research explores how cells organize themselves, their architecture, stem cell differentiation, and the fascinating world of cryptochromes, where biology meets quantum mechanisms. 🔬

#Birds can see without #oxygen. At least part of their retina does. A new @nature.com study of scientists from @au.dk with #SFB1372 contribution shows that the avian inner #retina functions under chronic anoxia, supported by anaerobic metabolism and the #pecten. 🐔👁️ doi.org/10.1038/s41586-025-09978-w
