Excellent review! I really enjoyed The Stars My Destination & look forward to a reread. I like the fast pace, drop a few big ideas storytelling. It's a wild, enjoyable ride - a lot of creativity packed into <300 pages

I always appreciate a clear review where I can say, "Yep, this one is not for me."

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

So now the question is, do you log each book in the trilogy separately as three books completed? Or do u only count it as 1 since it's an omni?
sfgeek.bsky.social
Right on! I failed to look up his other works somehow.

Oh interesting, I wasn't aware of this, but loved In Ascension.... one of those 5 star reads for me. Hope this hits home as well, would love to be pushed to grab it!

Can't wait for my copy to arrive at the end of the month! Really enjoyed your short story from earlier this year, as well as your article on soil. Looking forward to space bears!

As you know, I'm a big fan of this continuing adventure. Can't wait for this next issue to arrive at the end of the month. I picked up a few of the back issues w/these stories in it. Hoping to get to one of those this month as well!!!
sfgeek.bsky.social
Ahhhh, OK. I was thinking, like u, a bunch of collected issues. I wasn't familiar with it so I was excited to checkout what was included.
sfgeek.bsky.social
Congrats! That's awesome. Looking forward to getting my hands on a copy!

Those covers alone have my interest!! I haven't read any Shaw yet, but will be keeping an eye out for this series!

Anything longer than a book in between & I'm like, "wait, who is this? What did they do again?..." A year and I'm definitely starting over! It's one of the reasons I love short stories as I'm usually reading one at all times... it gives me something else while still reading a series.

(2/2)
Things like Asimov's Robot Series, Murderbot, ect...I don't feel that same need since each is its own story. Right now I'm experimenting a bit with that alternating between 2 series. It might give me a different take.

If it's 1 continuous story - series like Hyperion, Broken Earth Trilogy, Remembrance of Earth's Past, KSRs Mars trilogy, etc...I like to read them 1 after the other. I like having the story fresh in my head and don't mind if the books aren't "distinct" as I view it as one story....(1/2)
