I remember someone saying that's how you know AI can never truly be a writer. If you tell AI to stop using em dashes, it'll stop. If you tell a writer to stop using em dashes they'll tell you to fuck yourself and that you can pry them from their cold, dead fingers.

My kiddo wanted to watch The Wild Robot last night.

I was emotionally destroyed the rest of the evening. What a beautiful movie! No wonder she loved the book so much!

You want your MC to not be able to ignore their inner demons--so you want to throw all the external conflict you can at them so that their internal conflict is triggered by it throughout the story because of the intensity of both.
