And this is in a world where the true king really is a bit magic!
Discworld QOTD, from Feet of Clay
I'm led to believe that in real law there's a waiver for everything
Even bigger imo is that science goes back on its conclusions and the legal system doesn't so all those people convicted on bitemark evidence? Not an appeal issue
Oh a new block list great. Adopting the bluesky idea of blocking early and often really makes the experience lovely.
And I know it chaps these kinds of people that we're all doing fine without them.
Worst reason to snap? Rose could not have shared the door in Titanic because if you watch the film Titanic it is clearly not *buoyant* enough to share.
As far as the phrase goes I've always interpreted "too early" to be before the elite consensus turns
Being right too early is worse than being wrong really is on point
Fertility rates obsession is just trying to make eugenics science again
The opinion was written about cases that contradicted his facts
I have mixed feelings about efficiency metrics because people who work for nonprofits are often underpaid because they're doing good and people have taken it to mean any money sent on administration is wasted
Adoption is an alternative to parenting not to pregnancy. When people are forced to give birth they're not more likely to give the child up
Turns out telling everyone slaves were happy has downsides beyond gross inaccuracies
Just go full Georgia Tan and steal babies. It's more honest

What's "imploding" is they took so long to be able to repeal it that the healthcare sector relies on its existence and so do all their constituents.
And if they're skippable it's because authors are catering to people who deliberately don't read part of the book!
Skipping prologues is the book version of making your carrot cake with shredded kale and we should in fact look at you weird if you then say you didn't understand the book
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

“And while I would love to continue splitting hairs about whether a country starving kids is better or worse if the kids are already sick let’s just table that discussion for when I see you in hell.” 🔥
In which John Oliver methodically unpacks how thin it is to claim you’re all about “the truth” when you’re only running essays don’t get properly fact-checked — and don’t hold up to even basic reporting scrutiny www.youtube.com/watch?v=gieT...

I still tremendous my home phone number and parent's mobiles (luckily they haven't changed) from before I got my own phone. I had money for a payphone and my memory in case anything came up in the early 00s (it didn't)
They talk about it but not in a labour way, in a "why doesn't anyone talk normal?" way
Okay but nitpick, Orlok was not in fact legally distinct enough, the courts said he was just Dracula so it's Not Dracula playing Dracula
Three hosts should take them to task for the incompetence they're pretending to have at least.

one thing I’m pondering, and I don’t know if I can describe it very well, is what feels like a very Chicago Catholic energy around separating CHURCH conservatism from POLITICAL conservativism, which the trads and the sedevacantists across the asshole spectrum from JD Vance to Cardinal Dolan conflate
