Muppet for scale conundrum.

I always thought the Gorgs and Sweetums were the same size. But based on the Muppet Family Christmas, Kermit is the same size as the Fraggles. And the Kermit to Sweetums ratio ≠ the Junior Gorg to Gobo ratio.

So therefor the Gorgs are larger than Sweetums.

Muppet Math!
Where I’m at mentally today.

A study of select music videos directed by Steve Barron who also happens to be the director of my favorite film of all time, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990).

Let’s explore how he frames movement, mood, and lighting, tracing how those same directorial instincts show up in #TMNT. 🧵👇

Is there a way, that when my kids ask me like 30 questions all at once…I can force an ad to play on my glasses that they have to watch before they get my response?

Like an ad for cleaning their room or for food they refuse to try?

So, remember how chain letters became e-mail forwards and instead of worrying about our grand parents getting suckered it was our parents?

Well welcome to Conformity Gate and apparent we’re the ones we need to worry about.

365 books that have shaped, informed and entertained me.

Number 6

A Cook’s Tour by Anthony Bourdain.

I bought this after watching a few episodes of his first Food Network series and fell hard for his outlook and knack for telling food-centric stories. Like Ellison, he’s a dick, but he owns it.

Still thinking about a giant wolfman cookie I saw two months ago and regretting not gaining 17 lbs eating it all by myself…

Samantha Slade: Monster Sitter by Susan Smith

I’ve talked about this book before, but it was one of my bridges to horror fandom.

That said, this is my childhood copy and one I stupidly almost lost because of my collecting habit!

It’s kind of like the movie people expected after he made Pi when they thought he’d be another Tarantino. So he time traveled to make that…
Now watching.

Number 4

The True History of the Elephant Man by Michael Howell and Peter Ford.

I’m not just a tourist to aspects of Joseph Merrick’s life. His story is incredibly horrific and sad, and oddly comforting.

Shatterday by Harlan Ellison

When I was 19 I was an avid reader, but singularly focused on a few authors that were fun but not challenging. Then a friend I had a crush on lent me her copy of this book and it hit me pretty hard…

The 1998 edition of the Video Movie Guide by Mick Martin & Marsha Porter.

This enormous tome was my bible shortly after I graduated High School when I was diving head-first into hardcore movie-watching.

Number 1

Stephen King’s Christine paperback.

Not my favorite King book, but it was literally my first and first read. My sister bought it (and The Shinning) for me at a thrift store in FL in 1987 because I wanted to start reading big books.
