Learned this morning that my son (10) thought that since the day after Christmas starts Kwanzaa that the day after Thanksgiving starts a Black holiday as well. The holiday? Black Friday! Celebrate the real Black Friday y’all (don’t spend any money though)🤣

My general trick to remembering this: if the word is preceded by "the", use effect, otherwise use affect. Effect is a noun, affect is a verb, so effect is often "the effect" vs I was affected by...

My 10yo is really into sports (ESPN and YouTube). I keep having to explain the apps and "games" they're talking about is gambling.
I do agree gambling is WAY too accessible now.

If one good thing comes out of this recession, I would like to see more church plates.
I also think about how playing music and singing used to be something we did as family entertainment just for fun (or competition). You could pick up an instrument around the house. My great grandmother had a old upright piano in her tiny kitchen🤣
music is suffering because of the purposeful defunding of arts education specifically and defunding of education in general. it’s suffering because of lack of access. it’s suffering because artists are catering to algorithms vs. living, breathing people or even themselves.
