Thankful for Ryan Coogler, Chloe Zhao, Nia DaCosta and Celine Song for being highly talented directors who don't have sticks up their asses when it comes to genre storytelling.

I know this is an unpopular take on social media, but I think that 2025 has honestly been one of the BEST years for movies and I just can't with people who try to do the "no good movies anymore" thing.

Honestly, if I was made mad despot of movies I’d make sure every city had an IMAX 70mm theater. Still mad Chicago lost ours to the pandemic.
‘SINNERS’ and ‘ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER’ will both be re-released in IMAX 70mm theaters on December 12.

at this point, i’m sure IMAX is considering it. 🤣

this is the THIRD rerelease and we’re still in the same calendar year as the original release.
I love the idea of Sinners just periodically returning to IMAX every quarter so everyone who wants to see it, can
The juke joint is reopening next month: SINNERS returns to IMAX on December 12.

RENTAL FAMILY isn’t world breaking stuff. Instead it’s the kind of sweet family friendly yet adult-minded dramedy that you’d like to see more of in theaters.

You saw the endearing Brendan Fraser led RENTAL FAMILY this weekend, might I recommend reading my interview its director: HIKARI!

i could too, tbh. their original scores AND soundtracks all go nuts.
I could just watch Been Caught Stealing, One Battle After Another and Sinners in succession over and over for like 3 months.

there’s a part of me that also completes a yearcompass for the children in my life. to give the babies something to uncover and pour through when they’re older and i’m gone, i have to create the thing, lol.

I love yearcompass. I don’t always take the time to do the whole look back/look forward process, but it’s better when I do. I’m going to actually schedule time to do it this year
yearcompass is one of the most helpful tools i’ve ever used to reflect on the waning year and prepare for the year ahead. i’ve found i have more intentional and more thoughtful years when i complete it. + you can set it and forget it! highly highlyyyyy recommend! bsky.app/profile/mmin...
it’s yearcompass time already! #2425

if you’re completing one for the first time, i recommend giving yourself a few hours and/or days to work on it. i generally look through the prompts first to refresh my memory and get ready to reflect and write.

my annual planning includes:
- selection of words of the year
- selection of goals for the year
- key personal project prioritization (everything but my apartment)
- selection of key apartment interior design projects
- creation of daily and annual trello board planners
- yearcompass completion

no, for planning, i need way more words. however, i do select words of the year for the following in december, and they generally end up providing a nice summary of my year despite me not really thinking about them at all as the year goes along, lol.
When y’all do vision boards do it be working? I think I want to do one just to put shit into writing and see what happens.

RENTAL FAMILY was such a lovely watch. japan in all its resplendence. beautiful performances from brendan fraser and akira emoto. with an original score that i started playing immediately after leaving the theater.

like i said in april: UNDENIABLE.

to me, i don’t even see those directors as occupying the same space, tbh. one is meditations on man through creatures/monsters and the other is meditations on man through the mind. and beyond that, i want to see both approaches.

if you said jonathan, i’d agree with you. christopher? no.
I think Guillermo del Toro is actually the storyteller that everyone wants Christopher Nolan to be
