I got literally nothing going on.

The only thread I should've saved from Twitter was documenting my dive into the #StarTrek franchise. But no regrets leaving that place, & might as well just start fresh (in a way) here. (Maybe include other TV thoughts, too.) Anyway, just finished the first season of the original series, & it rules.

cis people on the skyline are genuinely more distressed by karoline leavitt’s lip fillers than the fact that congress just said, “what we should do is put any doctor or pharmacist in prison who gives lifesaving medical care to this specific kind of child we find gross.”
Bluesky tonight is neatly divided between trans people and family members appropriately angry and freaking out and everyone else who has barely noticed.

With Dems like Newsom championing the Reagan era that killed LGBT elders, and Dems who provide the votes to try and erase the next generation of trans people, the message they're sending is clear. They don't deserve any votes. They are not a progressive or opposition party.

Because of the anniversary of a significant life event this year, I watched all of the movies I own from 1985. First, a list of Honorable Mentions, then my Favorites from that year (all ranked in order of release date):

As always, there's no reason to vote for Dems. Not sure what it will take, or if it's possible, to convince most people that the Dems aren't interested in making things better and are only interested in decorum at best and the polite version of Republican bigotry at worst, but that's the reality.

I already talk to those people. We get online to talk to other people. Good job, social media app.
v1.112 is live!

We’re launching Find Friends, a contact import feature that helps you find people you know on Bluesky.

Try it! In the mobile app, go to Settings → Find friends from contacts.

there's just something so bleak about the fact that the seemingly apolitical murder of two elderly people by their profoundly ill son becomes a political football before the bodies are even cold

One way that the reaction to Rob Reiner's murder mirrors Charlie Kirk's is that the best way to eulogize each of them is to quote their words, and in both cases, doing so pisses off conservatives.
Rob Reiner: “Silence in the face of authoritarianism is complicity. Speaking out is a patriotic act. Democracy doesn’t defend itself. It requires participation, vigilance, and courage from ordinary people."

Steve isn’t here anymore, but he always posted this picture on Hanukkah so I thought we could carry on his tradition and remember him.
Happy Hanukkah to our friends who celebrate. Rachel Posner, a rabbi’s wife in Kiel, Germany, took this photograph in 1931 -- a potent reminder that fascism must be fought in every generation, even if it's wrapped in an American flag and a red hat.

Geez, and the lil chyron that says, "Mamdani's Socialist Agenda." Any sacrifice for weirdo capitalism, none for social programs that help people.

And for a technology only the worst people seem to love. Good grief.

No need to vote for a Dem again, folks.
115 democrats just voted to establish the first federal statutory definition of sex, which could now be used to

• charge fraud for using documents that misrepresent “sex”
• reverse all federal records gender markers
• sue a future gov’t for attempting to rescind trump’s anti-trans exec orders
As Trump drags us into an Iraq-style war in Venezuela, 312 members of the House — including 115 Democrats — just voted to authorize over $900 billion in military spending.

Aside from anxiety, I try to remain as level headed as possible, but:

I think these guys and this inhumane way of thinking should rot in hell.
Jimmy Fallon: "And do you use ChatGPT when raising your baby?"

Sam Altman: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."
