To me High Functioning Autism just means I had to learn to adapt Very Quickly or else things got Very Bad

If an autistic child asks you why you are doing something, please do not think they are criticizing you or asking you to stop. They want to know why you are doing what you are doing. They might be so happy and amazed at what you are doing they want to understand better.

#Autistic people may not use the same tone of voice as non-autistics, & this leads to a lot of misunderstandings. People often think I’m upset or angry when I’m not, & they respond accordingly.

My younger daughter has been diagnosed with autism for about 3 years now, but we understand so little. Parenting an an autistic child can be a pattern of 2 steps forward, 2 steps back. The weeks with only one step back are definite wins!
