On our way from Stockholm,
It started to snow,
And you said it was like Christmas,
But you were wrong,
It wasn't like Christmas at all.

I’ve been looking around for the most credulous mid-campaign piece about Trump’s obviously fatuous Project 2025 disavowal, and I think it might be this one from Politico. www.politico.com/news/magazin...

Hi. Do you have suggestions for how I can dress for 115F degree weather? Also has to make me feel like it's 65F, takes no effort to put together, doesn't make me stand out, but also makes me look stylish, works for weddings and pool parties, is ethically produced, and doesn't cost more than $3? Thx.

I know we don't feel like there's much to celebrate this July 4th. It's been a rough several years.

So I want to talk about how we're making history right now.

Hi @jeisinger.bsky.social, long time. No, that's not what's going on. Hedge funds et al are likely selling treasuries because their risk models have blown out and they need to delever. You sell what is holding up best, so voila Treasury market strains. This is a hunger for dollars.
Ok what’s going on here?

Yields are going up which means bond prices are going down.
Fewer buyers of the world’s safest asset.

Normally when the economy slows, there’s a flight to safety, not away from it.

Means the world may be abandoning America.

We are flirting with a true crisis.
10-year yield going vertical here. Something’s gonna break.

The point is not to punish for doing (or not doing) a given behaviour: it's to find a way to read any behaviour as a transgression against themselves and punish accordingly.

The only aesthetically pure way to watch the original STAR WARS trilogy is these moldy grindhouse prints that were found and digitized a few years ago

You can see the OT the way it was originally seen: with the original ILM effects, in a dreamlike gauze

This classic work in the history of nationalism argues that the rise of widely available print (esp. newspapers) made it possible for geographically dispersed groups of people to imagine themselves as a roughly coherent entity called "a nation" in which there was an ongoing conversation.
