I think if I had played this as a bored kid who didn't have shit to do after school, I would be way into grinding spell levels for hours and writing extremely clumsy romance fics about firion and maria. The charm I felt from FF1 is still present here, probably even moreso, I think.

I think the wonkiness of the gameplay started rearing its head more once I got to the endgame, but like, yeah, it's an old game, it's goofy, some things don't make sense. I wouldn't have finished this game if I wasn't playing the remake with a bunch of QOL features, but like, I am, so I did.

I don't see people mention this when discussing FF2, but the narrative is a big step up from FF1. Obviously it's simple, but there's characters and set pieces and some moments that legitimately made me go "oh that's cool!" Things change in the world as you play. Really neat to see from an NES game.

Credits rolled on Final Fantasy 2. The last dungeon/boss was a big step up in enemy strength. Did I cheat and use the pixel remaster feature to increase the speed my party's spells level up at? Yes.

Do I regret it? No. I clock into work at 6 am tomorrow, man. I got stuff to do.

If you love a manga you can only read through scanlations, buy a JP copy if you can! These stories live and die by sales, so if they're not selling, they're ending. Bookwalker and Kobo (currently) aren't region locked digital stores, so it's a relatively simple way to keep the stories running.

i have been playing a lot of hades 2 lately. rolled credits a bit ago but haven't been able to stop doing postgame stuff. game is really really really good. in terms of the gamplay loop i think it's just a better version of the first game which is crazy to say.

hera boons are balanced btw.
