Every single journalist with expertise in extremism I know has been fired or their publication has folded.

Not a coincidence, of course. Grateful for their work, but unfortunately for almost all of us, this work will now have to be the side hustle.

We're living the 21st century version of the redemption era.
Teen Vogue eliminated all their Black and trans staff today.

It's resegregation in real time.
today’s information came out piecemeal, and people should be able to share their own situations on their own time, but I could share this much ^ as it is pretty cut and dry on the facts.

Teen Vogue also no longer has any trans staffers as of today.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members.

At our Summit, I was asked how it felt to be 1 of 2 Black women left and what that meant for representation. Now, there are no Black women at Teen Vogue and that is incredibly painful to think about.

They assume they have permission
It's really weird all the legacy outfits deciding complete surrender is play against a patchwork movement with cratering popularity and only held together by an 80 year old man whose brains are rapidly turning into rice pudding.

No more Black or trans staffers. No politics of any kind. The cowardice of mainstream media isn't just insulting, it's *boring.* Now TV is just like any other beauty rag. Why not just kill it quickly? Why the slow-motion pretense?
thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

Now that our current regime has said DEI = bad corporations are showing their true colors. They want white hires, pure and simple.

Republicans could override the filibuster and reopen the government with only 51 votes.

Any other solution requires the House, and Johnson is refusing to bring it back into session.

Republicans completely control the shutdown. They don't want to reopen the government.

It actually is mind blowing to check out X and see what is essentially 4chan which is also populated with politicians, media figures, "thought leaders" etc.

A dystopian horror, really. Where neo-Nazis now have equal standing with mainstream leaders. There is a reason Fuentes is now so mainstreamed.
The authoritarian takeover of X was a harbinger of the regime’s strategy for America at large.

Bluesky is a perfectly adequate refuge for X exiles. The biggest problem with Bluesky is that so many political and media elites are still on X. That’s not Bluesky’s fault—it reflects poorly on the elite.

The irony is that professionalizing architecture and securing its place in the market economy inevitably resulted in architecture moving away from this idealized form of practice simply because the market economy doesnt have much demand for that kind of practice.

Getting hit in the chest from point blank range with a footlong sub and an enormous Peckinpah-style squib of sweet onion teriyaki sauce explodes from my chest.
It's not in this article but the government asserts that the sandwich was thrown at "point blank range", which implies subway sandwiches have defined effective weapon ranges of varying lethality, and I would like to see the government's chart of these ranges.

TV was the place I knew I could go with pitches that other outlets DIDN'T want to cover - e.g. the China Initiative.

There was always a priority of helping readers understand the true impact to our country first, and their staff never backed away from doing the work to make it happen.

This is devastating, and I say this as someone who has written for Teen Vogue.

TV did a tremendous job helping Americans understand politics during the first Trump term.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

“career development” and “cultural leadership”?

is that why teen vogue has gotten mentions and awards in recent years? no.

Hmm — what a great day for Teen Vogue to kill the politics coverage that helps young people navigate and understand how quiet moves such Idaho's rejection of family planning funding directly affect their lives.
SCOOP: Idaho’s health department quietly declined the entirety of its annual $1.5 million federal Title X funding in April, leaving patients statewide without any access to the family planning program.
