We’ve been tweaking the meds a little bit and oh my god I think it’s working, my blood pressure is lower and I can look forward to things and I feel some semblance of calm for the first time in so, so long. I’m not encountering EVERYTHING like it’s gonna be a fight.

Also, since I keep swearing I’ll try talking about it and my therapist seems to think I ought to try to share some personal victories: my biodad is being removed from my birth certificate and I’m being legally adopted by… well, by my new dad.

This will be the third time my name has been legally changed in my life and realizing that has made it a lot easier to finally just pick one.

We don't just wake up one day & believe we deserve better. Every day in recovery we chip away a little at our old BS (Belief Systems) that tell us we don't deserve safety, or satisfaction, or love.

I have stumbled into having a doctor who seems to give a shit about my health and I wasn’t expecting this to freak me out so much. Telling him the most basic outline of my life sent me into adrenaline overdrive for a week. But that’s progress, too.
