Thoughtfully Shaping Our Digital Future To the parties forming the government in the Senate and House of Representatives, as well as the outgoing administration, We are writing to you in recognition of your crucial responsibility for shaping current and future AI policy, overseeing digitization, and upholding public values. We are a coalition of scientists, experts, and representatives of civil society organizations. We believe it is essential to address these matters together. This letter has two objectives: a) Provide context for current plans, including the AI Delta Plan, the AIC4NL position paper, and the Invest-NL AI Deep Dive. These investment proposals often rely on assumptions that lack scientific evidence and do not fully reflect public values. b) To offer a constructive, well-substantiated alternative approach to digital futures based on people, nature, and democracy. We believe a collaborative process should guide decisions on the needs, scope, and nature of investments by bringing together scientists, civil society organizations, and stakeholders.

In the present case there were therefore choices that could be made. They had been provided to the claimant by Ms Davidson and Ms Curran. The claimant could have chosen to use other spaces than the changing room, as other staff did such as the well-being room or store room, assuming that they were free. But equally that choice could have been provided to the second respondent, suggested on an interim basis until a more permanent solution was found. Given what the second respondent stated after the Christmas Eve incident to the effect that it might be proportionate not to use that changing room we consider that on such a basis the second respondent would have been open to such an option.

Klaasje (11): 'Voor papa ben ik nog een jongen. Hij noemt me ook Klaas. Maar ik mag sinds kort wel als meisje naar hem toe. Ik weet dat hij het niet leuk vindt, maar ik doe het stapje voor stapje. Eerst in een meisjesbroek, toen ook met een meisjestrui aan en misschien doe ik de volgende keer een kettinkje om. Bij mama en op school mag ik al wel langer meisje zijn. Mijn juf is echt geweldig: zij zei meteen dat ik gewoon moet doen waar ik gelukkig van word. Toch ben ik vandaag pas voor het eerst naar de meisjes-wc gegaan. Ik vond het best spannend en was bang voor de mening van andere meisjes. Dat ze zouden zeggen: "Wat doe je hier?" Maar niemand zei iets. En nu denk ik: Had ik het maar een jaar eerder gedaan. Maar op voetbal vertel ik het nog niet. Toen ik vier was, pakte ik op school altijd de prinsessenjurken uit de verkleedkist en ik droeg soms een roze rokje over mijn broek. Ik weet heel zeker: ik ben een meisje. Als meisje ben ik blij en sta ik stevig in mijn schoenen. Toch voelt het alsof ik geremd word. Ik sta bijvoorbeeld al drie jaar op een wachtlijst omdat artsen eerst echt zeker willen weten dat ik in transitie wil. Deze week gaat een arts kijken of ik in de puberteit ben. Zelf denk ik van wel, want ik heb af en toe puistjes en mijn stem verandert. Ik hoop dat ik met puberteitsremmers mag beginnen.'
