Emergency brake solutions have an outsized impact on near-term warming, with the potential to reduce emissions by as much as a third. Any guesses as to what percent of climate stories across three leading publications focus on those solutions?

We can build a world where being in a gambling ad is just as cringe as being in a crypto ad was a few super bowls ago.

NFT, crypto, sports betting, polymarket. It's all the same grift, and everyone associated with it deserves unending mockery at the very least.

Many people think that eating insects could be a good solution to climate change.

Nope. Not really.

Does anyone know where I can order a few thousand tiny violins for a counterprotest?
A new group is advertising a "March for Billionaires" in San Francisco next weekend, starting in wealthy Pac Heights.

The group says a planned California billionaire tax would hit "value creators" who are "building, not taking."

Is it satire?

We often hear about the "hard-to-abate" emissions — especially from cement, steel, aviation...

Sometimes these are used to justify crazy carbon removal schemes.

But as Sarah Gleeson at Project Drawdown points out, "hard-to-abate" doesn't mean "impossible-to-abate"...

What are “hard-to-abate” emissions – and why do they matter?
Hard-to-abate emissions aren't impossible-to-abate. Here's where we can start to reduce these stubborn emissions.

Recycling ♻️ is a mechanical process that repurposes waste into new products without altering their chemical structure. Recycling metal, glass, paper, and plastic currently reduces GHGs by over 1 Gt CO2-eq per year.

Methane has caused roughly 1/3 of our warming to date.

Most of it comes from our food system.

And we need to fix this.
Methane has driven about one-third of warming to date 🔥 and is far more potent than CO₂ in the short term. Learn about solutions in latest Insights piece from Emily Cassidy, Research Associate and Paul West, Senior Scientist: https://bit.ly/3NqBEkx

Odd title framing, given that this study (and article) is about meat being taxed at the same rate as other food items. It's not a 'meat tax'; it's tax equity and the removal of harmful subsidies.

Three facts:

- Methane has caused ~30% of the warming we have seen so far.

- Curbing methane emissions is also one of the fastest ways to bend the curve on future warming. It’s a “emergency brake”.

- And the food system emits over half of global methane emissions.

We can’t ignore the largest source of methane
Food is the largest source of human-caused methane – we ignore it at our peril
