That principle is a big reason my own game exists. I loved Spelunky and Crypt of the Necrodancer, but saw the fast paced precision was a big barrier to entry. So I made a "turn based Spelunky", Dig Dig Boom:

New Mega Drill's UI are bringing the game loop to an almost fully functional state: Player can drill to gather resources in the action phase, sell or use resources to build infrastructures.

Added the new icons to the game. The player can now add special tools and passive upgrades to his drill.

Doing good UIs is SO HARD!

I put a lot of effort upfront for my UIs to work with mouse, keyboard and gamepad. I've completely rebuilt my UI manager with proper use of constructors and structs but complex UIs can still be tricky.

Just missing a progress bar.

The fun here is that this wasn't scripted. The unit has a kick for pushing bombs AT you but was able to recognize that he'd survive the blast if he used it defensively.

The characters you encounter are capable of making complex multi-turn decisions with their available options to outsmart you 😁
Been a minute, here's a fun gif!

The NPCs in my game never cease to surprise me: Here I threw a bomb near this skeleton so it would blow up next to him next turn, but he instantly kicks it away like we're playing bomberman over here
