Poseidon’s distinction as the first dog onboard the Nimitz comes with a footnote from a motion picture that is required viewing for any fan of on-screen naval aviation (with a historic sci-fi twist). The Final Countdown brought the first dog, Charlie, onboard the Nimitz.

Like so many members of our military, serving this country changed my life. The Navy gave me opportunities I wouldn't dream of and taught me lessons I'll never forget. I'm grateful for everything our nation has given me, and I'll always do everything I can to give back to it.

In today’s Russian papers there’s scepticism over the current round of diplomacy. One paper: “The European-Ukrainian gang will ‘correct’ Trump’s plan so that it’s unacceptable for Russia.” Another: “I don’t think the Special Military Operation will end this year.” #ReadingRussia
In the Russian papers, much scepticism about the peace plan.

A member of the Penobscot tribe, he now holds almost celebrity status. A bust of him sits in the center of the Charles Shay Indian Memorial in Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, France, which honors the service of Native Americans during #WWII and has been a destination point visiting US Army generals.

As Lahousen spoke, Keitel squirmed uncomfortably. Earlier in the trial, he had complained to his colleague Colonel General Alfred Jodl: “The court just doesn’t seem to realize the principle of ‘orders are orders.’ . . . It’s not up to the Wehrmacht staff to question the Führer principle.
#WWII Like spokes to a wheel, the prosecution joined propaganda to atrocity, atrocity to law and finance, and all of these to the Nazi plan to rule Europe and lands beyond. Burden of Proof. The US had shouldered the task of formally proving the existence of this conspiracy. time.com/archive/6790...

The USS Oregon was still afloat when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Yet she still had a role to play. The Oregon’s hull served as a #WWII munitions barge during the invasion of Guam in 1944.

Nov 21, 1950 Instead of internationalism, brotherhood, and equality of peoples, Russia presents a picture of nationalistic darkness, holding under her sway six European States, preparing for aggressive war allegedly against capitalism but actually for plunder and acquisition of new territories.
