The best part about having the million hobbies flavor of ADHD is that I’ve tried a LOT of fun and interesting things and I’ll be a lifelong learner.

Autistic joy is radical.

Because it’s not about success or normalcy.

It’s about existing without shame.

It’s about your bodymind feeling safe enough to be loud, quiet, or still.

Embrace it 💙

I have big teaching talk to do Monday on trauma with Irony of having new trauma I’m desperately trying to deal with, burntout & tired as feck

But we always seem compelled to do our best no matter what, we’re stubborn about that

I bet you’ll crack it with some loud ‘instrumental metal’?

It's time for #InverteFest, BRING OUT YOUR BUGS!

Go find bugs, draw bugs, have a seance with bugs but most importantly share bugs (all inverts).

We'll have a special announcement soon as well.

Plus, we've got this poster in multiple languages on our website! www.metrofieldguide.com/invertefest/
What is #InverteFest?
It's a periodic event where we invite you to celebrate the overlooked invertebrate fauna around you and share the joys of discovery online. #InverteFest takes place every April, August, & December over the last 7 days of the month.

Going out?
1. Find invertebrates
2. Share observations online using the hashtag #InverteFest
3. Interact with others who are celebrating the event

NOT Going out?
- Post your squid painting
- Stream a game where you play as a crab with a knife
- Selfie with your 27 beetle enamel pins
- Write wikipedia pages

Questions?
ask franzanth / maureenbug / saimihanma

More info and ideas on:

Thank you

A temporary ‘trauma response’

Am doodling occasionally though :)

The irony

The irony of someone saying they’re fed up having to repeatedly keep reminding you about something and you then have to repeatedly remind them (responding to their accidental prompt each time) it’s due to you being ADHD

That

At 9:03 am, the Mary Rose broke the surface of the water, seeing sunlight (such as you can on a cloudy day!) for the first time in 437 years.

You are not The Exception to the fact trauma impacts the human nervous & endocrine systems in predictable ways; & you won't be the first survivor in the history of trauma to figure out how to recover while still invalidating your pain & ignoring your needs.

Sorry, not sorry.

The mass firings at the CDC tonight drive home the fact that no one is coming to save us

But we can save each other

Wear a mask. Ideally a respirator like an N95

Even if you’re vaccinated. Even if you’re “not worried”

It protects you but it also protects everyone else

Bonus? Less colds & flus!

Good night, friends.
Tonight was deeply painful.

We at CDC do this work because we care.
It’s long hours, often feeling overworked and not enough pay, but we do it because we want to make the world a better place.

On walk this morning noticed:

Patterns on fence weathered graffiti
Crow cawing in 3’s = ‘I’m here’
Large crows nest up tall metal mast
Starling calling sounding exotic
Asked homeowner 4 tile out rubble bag
Had flu jab & only 1 masked
Bought large fancy red pumpkin
Out at 8:45 & home by 9:45

If we can’t tell children what happens to farm animals. Maybe what we’re doing to the animals is wrong.

Other than the obvious eugenics, I think one of the reasons acknowledging that neurodivergence is actually a normal part of humanity is that it has led to people questioning everything from ableism to child rearing practices to education and even how society functions as a whole.
