But they did avoid maximal embarrassment by not having the guy double or triple covered catching it. It's still 6 points but that would have been far stupider

Me, stuffing my face with crab cakes: "I'm fighting Nazism!:

Did not know this about Old Bay
The origins of the company can be traced back to Wertheim, Germany, where Brunn started a wholesale spice and seasoning business selling to food industries, seeing an opportunity as spices were in especially short supply amidst hyperinflation in the aftermath of World War I. 9] Due to rising antisemitism as the Nazi Party rose to power, the company moved to Frankfurt, Germany; 1°1 however, on the night of November 9, 1938, a massive pogrom against Jews, known as Kristallnacht, led to Brunn being arrested by Nazi soldiers and sent to Buchenwald concentration camp. "
According to Brunn's son, Gustav's wife paid a large sum of money to a lawyer for him to be released; as they had already applied for and received American visas, they were able to escape with their two children to New York City and later Baltimore, Maryland, where Brunn had family.!'! There, having brought with him only a small spice grinder, 8! Brunn founded the Baltimore Spice Company and produced the
"Delicious Brand Shrimp and Crab Seasoning", which was later renamed Old Bay. 12[13]

At the RenFest as we speak. A lot of these guys would be fine if they just bought something from Ye Olde Leatherwurks here

Some people are outsourcing the most basic functions and badly at that

@sickoscommittee.org reference in the Boise game on a broken FG TD!

Or this was the photo at halftime. Before the game he was a regular middle aged man

Sad to see the USC Band has not learned either a second song or that it can simply not play between every single play. Sigh.

I was going to answer, but I get the distinct impression you're not actually asking questions in good faith here.

So block.
spacelawyer.bsky.social
But then the problem is going to be I didn't get triple overpaid and I'm not going to be happy at missing a windfall. Which is the real tragedy here.
spacelawyer.bsky.social
It's not going to be up the admin. It's going to be a thing DFAS does on their own volition. The admin would have to affirmatively intervene to tell them to let it go which I don't think they'd do although honestly, predicting anything anymore with any certainty is beyond me.
spacelawyer.bsky.social
Because eventually they figure out they mispayed you and claw it back, and if you foolishly spent it as if it was your money you wind up hurting.
spacelawyer.bsky.social
"Wow, half of us got triple paychecks. Let's go and spend it now! Nothing bad will come of this."

Look forward to having to untangle that
spacelawyer.bsky.social
NOT judge yourself so harshly. Whoops. You get the idea.
spacelawyer.bsky.social
Ah thanks.

I'd think the other reason they'd hold back is the Dems wouldn't feel beholden either (maybe revise the OLC opinion that started this) and this is a significant leverage point they like to have in their arsenal too?

We have a reception by an offensive lineman for positive yardage in the Bama-Mizzou game.
spacelawyer.bsky.social
Are there indications they're doing this? Where are you seeing this?
spacelawyer.bsky.social
In conclusion, maintain real relationships with grounded folks who will tell you to knock it off when you're being a jerk
spacelawyer.bsky.social
That's a small example but it's very hard to get good grounded advice consistently in this manner. Especially so because the people who most need a firm "wtf are you doing" from a friend are by disposition most likely to accept what they want to hear
spacelawyer.bsky.social
And no. That's a terrible idea, even if they endorse it. It's a bad way to live your life, it's bad to draw others in, EVEN if the other person "deserves" it. And when people said this, she'd fall back on plenty of others (strangers, online) telling her to do it
spacelawyer.bsky.social
Probably the example that sticks with me the most was someone who wanted to surprise her cheating ex on Christmas, in front of the family, with a divorce. And she was like "no it's fine everyone hates him so it's fine if I do it like this.:
spacelawyer.bsky.social
You could get bad advice in person too but it's harder. And they're at least nominally forced to have some connection to you which helps cut down on particularly toxic advice.
spacelawyer.bsky.social
(I would never say that. Might think it)

But anyway with the internet and self selecting circles it's very easy to surround yourself with people, complete strangers, who tell you what you want to hear. These people don't know you, don't know your particular circumstances, and have no real stake
spacelawyer.bsky.social
Or as I put it when talking to my CGOs about giving feedback, some people will get the slightest critique and take it way too hard and go into a spiral of self-doubt.

Other people, I could tell them that their very existence is an abomination and they'd come away thinking they're doing great.
