I am optometrist by nature, you know?

Some have asked: profile pic is Bobbie (she/her), GSP mix rescue, banner pic is Mortimer (he/him), mountain cur mix rescue. Don’t adopt hound dogs if you don’t want PITA dogs but they are precious life forms.
This is the most blatantly openly corrupt maneuver I’ve ever seen and probably in American history. Have there been more corrupt deals? Maybe. But this publicly? Just straight up saying to shareholders that the President will fuck you up if you go the other way? I don’t think so.
Affinity Partners, the private equity firm led by Jared Kushner, is part of Paramount's hostile takeover bid for Warner Bros Discovery.

Paramount is telling WBD shareholders that it has a smoother path to regulatory approval than does Netflix, and Kushner's involvement only strengthens that case

Lindsay is not doing her job. As it happens, she doesn't *have* a job. She doesn't have a client. And her reputation isn't being "questioned", but is just what it is: bad.

I hate being a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Just absolute losers in perpetuity (except for when they win the Super Bowl).

I became fascinated with Monet–and Impressionism generally–after seeing three different renderings of the cathedral at Rouen side by side by side. I think it’s at Musée d’Orsay? Anyway, somewhere there are three paintings from the same perspective, but different times of day, seasons, etc.
Monet’s serial painting — haystacks, cathedrals, lilies — anticipated Pop Art and Minimalism’s love of repetition. 🖼️

Publishing all the other boat murder videos but refusing to release the one of the two survivors being killed is an admission they know exactly how bad it looks. There's no other distinction to draw there, no reason to publish the others while withholding that one.

Grady Judd was appointed by Trump to a federal council meant to help exploited kids.

But in Judd’s own department back home, a child victim was made out to be a liar, leaving her abuser free to assault her again.
Police didn’t believe a 12-year-old who said she'd been raped. Then she hit record.

Senator Kelly is correct.

Plus a Public Service Announcement:

KEY section of Department of Defense's Law of War Manual is 18.3.2.1.

The VERY rule on the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders gives as its paradigmatic example of what is "clearly illegal:
"orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

one of the things I think is wild is that recorded music is recent enough that these comparisons never really work. arguably, the whole thing--recorded popular music--is a boomer phenomenon and is on the way to being something totally different than what we have all always assumed was permanent
