Everyone who says I shouldn’t criticize Jim Stewartson because I’m “causing division on the left” needs to explain to me why they’re okay with Stewartson causing division on the left. He causes the division. I’m trying to remove the cause of the division.

There is a massive escalation going on in DC and it is going to be coming to every blue city and state in due time. It is very clear that the goal now for ice is not just the terror of disappearing Americans and harassing them, but that they want to fight Americans in the streets using deadly force

Video of a scary scene in Adams Morgan last night is making the rounds on DC listservs.

The feds (presumably ICE) seemed to be making immigration/traffic stops. When protesters started shouting, one pointed his Taser at them until other protesters tried to deescalate things...

Violence is not the answer to our political situation. Showing restraint in the face of belligerence and insult is the best way to prevent the manipulations and machinations of fascists.
spencerwatson.bsky.social
The general atmosphere has been a little tense. Maybe that’s a factor.

I’m adding to it. Why are the only options to agree or disagree?

What we need from all sides in this is restraint. For nearly every single person on the Internet there is no time limit on having a spicy take about this. Restraining ourselves from being conspiracy-minded until the FBI has done their job could make a big difference.

Some people believe that violence is an expression of strength. This isn’t true. Violence is what happens when you don’t have the strength for #Restraint

There is currently no socio-political issue in the US that requires or justifies violence.

Ep 119 of Truth Unrestricted is about situations that are not usually conspiracies but which are mistaken for them regularly. AKA Pseudoconspiracies. This episode was recorded live on twitter with

The Fremen people from Dune have an expression: “every night you stay awake is a new day added to your life.”

I don’t doubt that at all. But does this increase the level of anxiety among a group of people? An anxiety that cannot ever be assuaged? This resembles the way in which cults manipulate members. Give them an impossible method to relieve their anxiety, then increase their anxiety.

I mean, true. But if it *did* then *why* would we use it for fucking chatbots?

Why couldn’t we just use that nuclear fusion to replace carbon-based energy and save the planet from becoming a barren dystopia? And after *that* then maybe we could work on some AI shit again.

What would the world look like if the creator of this video *somehow* got what they claim they want here? The only way to *really* make this happen (absent the racial purity angle) is a rejection of technology. That’s *not* going to happen. Obviously.

So do we think the creator is just sad about missing their childhood? Is it possible that this is meant to make people anxious about having lost something they can never get back? And then directing that anxiety onto adjacent ideals?

Everyone who was wrong about Trump — please say so openly to those who trust you and follow you. You have influence and thus bear responsibility.

There was no negotiation with Hitler. FDR said that a negotiation was possible with Germany as a nation but the only unmovable demand was that Hitler himself no longer be in any position to influence Germany. Under Hitler, Germany was always going to eventually suffer.

The most effective scams are often the ones that tell you they are scams from the start. The lie is about who is being scammed. They’ll imply that you can be complicit in “sticking it to the man.” And then when you need to report them for scamming you…

The light is awful when thunderstorms roll in—except on a Costa’s hummingbird. That’s when his gorget feathers turn electric.

A series of four photos of a male Costa’s hummingbird perched on a green stem. His throat and crown shimmer with iridescent violet and magenta feathers, glowing differently as he turns his head. The rest of his plumage is olive-brown on the back with a pale gray chest and belly. In each frame, he shifts position—facing forward, sideways, and slightly down—revealing how the light transforms the brilliance of his gorget feathers against a blurred green background. I’m not trolling and if you’re going to accuse people of things like this you should probably find out more about them first.

How we defeat fascism matters. What the world looks like on the other side of this matters.

Not a faux version either where someone deliberately puts themselves in harm’s way to justify their own pre-conceived actions. People need to think harder about what situations they put themselves in because these bastards are going to get crafty.
