A few years back, we created an Advent Calendar to pray for peace. This year, we felt prompted to focus our prayers on regions not covered by TV or newspapers but suffering from violence and conflict. The countries were chosen based on the Institute for Economics & Peace's Global Peace Index 2025.

🏳️‍⚧️ Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance (#TDOR) & we honour the trans people who lost their lives to violence.

💚Trans rights are under threat in many countries, with the rise of conservative ideologies.

💪We need to stand strong together & fight for each other.

Change of scene for work today. Was able to use volunteer time off from F5 to work in the Gay Project today and complete some annual reports as chair of the board and a consultation on Community Safety as well as meet with Staff.

We said this prayer on Sunday, but it is right to share it today on Transgender Day of Remembrance.

The Collect for Transgender Remembrance Day
God of liberation, lift up, we pray, all our trans and nonbinary siblings who have gone before us, people on whose pathbreaking shoulders we stand.

Grateful to colleagues across parties on Cork City Council standing behind our county colleagues in their submission on the proposed incinerator at Ringaskiddy.

Cork Harbour is a shared resource between the two local authorities. Air pollution doesn't stop at the boundary between city and county.

Newly re-imagined city centre park yesterday. More permeability than I expected and many of the trees more visible.

In particular, I'm loving the access to the city walls and miniature amphitheatre. Some small works left to do including the restoration of the gates, but these will come.
