I remember when the Columbine massacre happened and very serious media and political figures deliberately hid the fact that the shooters were neo-Nazis and claimed that they did it because they were bullied (they weren’t) and that they wore black clothes.

Every creative work is a map of the creator's choices while making it. They are making the art for a reason, and that reason is part of the art itself. I guess this is a hot take, but I don't think personal interpretation matters more than artist intent.

Separating the art from the artist is how people justify continuing to engage with the creative works of monsters and also how people justify art theft and plagiarism. When the artist doesn't matter and the art is seen as community property, people justify a lot of bad behavior that way.

I don't separate the art from the artist because the art IS the artist. Every single piece of art is a piece of an artist that they broke off and shared with you. The artist is not just the wrapper that you can throw away once you get what's inside.

Let this be a reminder that if you post your lewd screenshots make sure it doesn't have the "copyright of square enix" watermark on it and maybe if you're using carrd to host a gallery or smth stick "screenshots that differ from ingame are the result of photoshop and paintover" in your footer
