Was Jae Hoon always meant to be this much of a total dork? I always read him as a more straight forward Ryu type, but these CotW interactions make him look like a total dweebasaurus rex.

Not wrong, Metaphor was just "medieval themed persona 5", but then again that was what i and other players wanted, so i am part of the problem.
The author of the novels that inspired Shin Megami Tensei and Persona says developers should take more inspiration from other media to invent new gameplay systems.
If they only take inspiration from games they'll just make the same games, he says.
