Pedestrian birder in Chicago. Click on #birds tag to see just my bird photos without the whinging. I'm also sharing bird links using the #BirdLinks tag. I'm embarrassed by my typos but usually not enough to delete them. Gear: OM1 & OM 150-400 & 100-400

Been doing a steady binge watch of the 10 seasons of the murder mystery cop drama Shetland on Britbox and dammed if the show isn't inadvertently the best example of why you should never ever speak to cops. They careen around accusing everyone, violating their privacy, trashing their reputations and

I'm almost 59 & finally financially secure & able to do whatever I want. Also I can't stay up past 8pm, I can't sleep past 5am, I can't eat anything spicy for dinner, I can't have caffeine after lunch, I can't eat potato chips, I travel poorly & need about 36 hrs to recover from a social encounter.

Nite Ize are solid. I'll actually use the one in this photo. They have good spring tension and most importantly a locking mechanism. You can get them in all kinds of sizes and formats (Some even have fire starting spark wheels or cams!)

Things I have found on or near to the Chicago Lakefront Trail.
Carabiners and Keyrings.

(People, do not trust cheap carabiners! They will add to my human magpie loot collection!)

I love how the NFL, a multi-billion dollar sports industry, with the jockest of all jocks doing metaphorical battle, always comes down the incredibly nerdy epistemological question of "How do we know a pass is a completion?"

That's OK. The next Democratic president will get to threaten to sue NBC for $50 million and NBC will just give it to them. Right? Right?
Why did the American audience apparently hear different audio of JD Vance's appearance at the Olympics than the audio heard by the rest of the world?

NBC denies muting. But it's part of overall disturbing developments in the US corporate media world.
The world heard JD Vance being booed at the Olympics. Except for viewers in the US | Bryan Armen Graham
The real risk for American broadcasters is not that dissent will be visible. It is that audiences will start assuming anything they do not show is being hidden

Both, as I wrote at time, were ‘abject failures of journalism’
