You had to be there in the late 2000s to know that 3 of the best holiday bangers were from side projects of Eddie Argos of indie-sleaze-before-it-was-so-named UK band Art Brut. Glam Chops - Countdown To Christmas, B-side Baby Jesus Was The First Glam Rocker, and The Black Arts - Christmas Number One

Truly wild that someone went to Steven Van Zandt and said “can you write Darlene Love a version of Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) but make it so we don’t have to give Phil Spector any money” so he wrote the same song but like 90% as good [positive] and they put it in Home Alone 2.

The mosh pit for this Superheaven show at Williams Center just broke through the floor. I can't get close enough or won't get close to see how bad the damage is but they stopped mid-song and it's been a solid five minutes, so I might just leave rather than get crushed falling into the basement.

Every show any genre I've been to since Oasis played MetLife Stadium, I've seen at least one person wearing a shirt from it, and this streak continues

Seeing an opener of a 6pm show call themselves the loudest band from Pennsylvania, and I'm realizing I may have gone to a butt rock show. After "a death metal love song" they are outroing with the chorus to Christina Aguilera - Beautiful, and the phone flashlights are out.

This Stuart Scott 30 for 30 is amazing with the personal videos to add to the sports viewer's dimension that he was always *on*. He didn't have a Broadcast Mode voice, that wasn't a persona he put on, he was just all himself all the time.

I can still hear a 6-hour defensive driving instructor 20 years ago — she was a fantastic teacher, a discipline lost to rote online certification — saying "go have your accident somewhere else." The place where you have the least control over what an aggressive driver does is immediately behind you!

After 5 years of everyone at my dentist's office mispronouncing my name in spite of being corrected every time I saying my own name, the dentist herself asked me whether my name is pronounced Steffin, while I was full of novacaine and she was scraping my teeth. "Nuh-uh," the record is finally clear.

Went to the record store for the first time in over a year, got 13 used albums 10% off for Small Business Saturday. Also realizing I've not updated discogs with any of the records I bought at shows or by mail in the past year, I mostly use to avoid getting duplicates!

He's really going to try to throw the lawyers under the bus.

Please don't anyone tell him how that usually works out.
a lot of words, none of them denying that Hegseth gave an order to kill helpless people who were stranded at sea after he blew up their boats

This week, my discover feed was NBA and Premier League content, nature pictures, and every My Bloody Valentine concert post. Bluesky was decently usable! Today, it's back on its old-school bullshit: men wearing diapers, horny Pokémon drawings, and "release the Epstein files" AI art #showlesslikethis

There’s no demographic more afraid of its own collective shadow than middle-aged white upper middle class from Nassau County. They have no actual idea what they’re so afraid of and can never articulate it, but they must be able to drive to the epicenter of it (NYC) for free at all times.

Tomorrow is my 5th time seeing The Last Waltz as played by a collective of amazing Jersey City musicians, so I am reviving an old Twitter question:

Muddy Waters, Garth Hudson, Lawrence Ferlinghetti
#LastWaltzNightmareBluntRotation
Rick Danko, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton

really great piece of reporting from UNC Charlotte's student-run paper www.ninertimes.com/news/inside-...
Inside the mission to defend Charlotte's immigrants
Amid rising immigration enforcement in Charlotte, a once-quiet church became standing-room-only as residents looked for guidance.

I love going to hardcore and heavy music shows of bands I've never heard of. Also, the house music between sets all night has been mid-2000s southern club rap.

It's gonna come out that players/staff in most leagues share insider info like injury reports, like how Billups was NOT indicted for telling poker buddies, "tank is on, Dame ain't playing." Not a crime to say, maybe to act on, but per @pablo.show w Bob Voulgaris, Adam Silver thought it preposterous!
