Watched the first episode of Plur1bus, and I love how Vince Gilligan is just like, "sure, you know me for my slow-burn character studies. But I'm about to go full Rod Serling on your ass."

New creature feature. This is Dermot the Bwog. He lives in a sewage treatment plant. He plays the ukelele. His girlfriend is a cold plate of turkey bacon.

From now on, every film is going to be a Human Centipede of eight-second LLM outputs sown ass-to-mouth and wriggling with the hollow performance of glassy-eyed skin-walkers.

This is great. Everyone wanted this. The world is better this way.

Beautifully, truthfully written.
Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

If you’re Dems, please coalesce around Stephen Miller not having a job anymore.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

A Dem Senator’s Harsh Takedown of Trump Hits Home: “Breaking Point”
As Trump scrambles to contain the damage from the latest ICE horrors, Senator Chris Murphy offers a sharp indictment of Trump-ICE lawlessness—and explains how Dems can meet the urgency of the moment.

I think about this constantly as someone with family members all over the political spectrum.

I don't think people succumb to echo chambers because they believe what the echo chamber is telling them.

I think people succumb to echo chambers because echo chambers confirm their identities.
Does anyone have any idea how we break the echo chambers? No Trump voter in my family will ever know what actually happened to Alex Pretti or Renee Good. They will believe the officers were justified. They will watch Fox News and that will be the end of it.

Wise words from WEB DuBois to gird us today: "It would be shame and cowardice to surrender this glorious land and its opportunities for civilization and humanity to the thugs and lynchers, the mobs and profiteers, the monopolists & gamblers who today choke its soul and steal its resources."

Walz: "What's happening in MN defies belief. News reports simply don't do justice to the level of chaos & disruption & trauma the federal govt is raining down... This long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement. Instead, it's a campaign of organized brutality against the people of MN"

Trying to understand this week’s events in Venezuela better, and this article from WIRED is breathlessly good.

In short, we’re barreling down the tracks of antiquated 80’s foreign policy with no real plan and for the dubious benefit of a few oligarchs.

Ain’t pretty.

It’s jaw-dropping how there’s not even a glittery pretext of “spreading democracy” or national defense this time. Just empty-headed, ravenous greed and corruption, broadcasted nakedly to the entire world. God almighty.
Trump: "We're going to have our very large United States oil companies go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure and start making money for the country. And we are ready to stage a second and much larger attack if we need to do so."
