On my way home from a lovely couple of days doing author visits related to ”How to Find a Rainbow”. The brilliant illustrator, Sarthak Sinha, was supposed to have joined me but was denied a visa because that’s the sort of country we currently live in.
How To Find a Rainbow

'Populist' is used as a term of abuse, but I'm not sure it should be given these definitions. What if the concerns of ordinary people are being disregarded by established elites? Maybe we need populism, but a populism that correctly identifies who's *really* screwing 'ordinary people'.

Polanski Poppy-gate is more of the same old Remembrance Day bollox they used against Corbyn - designed to smear/distract attention away from popular policies the journalist's oligarch paymaster hate. The aim is to create wall-to-wall noise so nothing Polanski says cuts through.

The genetic superiority of uber-wealthy white men has been back for some time in rightwing circles. They're just less shy about expressing it publicly now.
Across the world, right-wingers are embracing the old idea that they’re genetically, culturally, fixed as superior. Whether as White, Western, men and/or affluent, they deserve everything because nature made them better. If we’re not willing to serve them quietly, we’re disposable. #auspol

Zohran Mamdani's win is "an incredible proof of concept of how to fight fascism," says @naomiaklein.bsky.social.

"Fascists want everybody to be the same. They celebrate conformity, uniformity, sameness, hierarchy. … The entire [Mamdani] campaign was a love letter to the diversity."
