I remember linkara and spongebob (of all characters!) specifically calling this recent trend out, when continuity starts to cannibalize itself, and to an extent, pop culture as a whole once there's nothing left in this singularity called Fortnite.

There was a time when I was able to shut my brain off and didn't really mind this type of film years ago, but nowadays it's impossible for me to see all these and other works like them as anything other than pop culture eating itself and offering nothing in return.
I wouldn't call any of these films among the worst I've ever seen. Not even close. But in terms of mainstream blockbusters there isn't a single type of film I hate more than what all of these films are.
