'when I hear Mr Farage talking about rounding up and deporting hundreds of thousands of human beings, and threatening those with leave to remain or settled status, I cannot help but think of the schoolboy sidling up to me and telling me that “Hitler was right”.'

Don’t believe Nigel Farage’s denials. He targeted me for being Jewish – and it hurt | Peter Ettedgui
Now that my former classmate has finally spoken about the allegations of his behaviour at school, I feel compelled to address his points directly, says Peter Ettedgui, a film director and producer

Juries are not perfect.

Many of the worst miscarriages of justice have followed jury trials.

But the merit of juries is not so much the power they have, but the power they prevent others from having.

They mean a judge cannot just nod-along with prosecution evidence and give a guilty verdict.

I’m beyond proud of Peter Ettedgui speaking out about Farage and the vile antisemitic abuse he endured. I first heard Peter’s story nearly 20 years ago when Farage was a virtual nobody. It’s not a hit job. Just the truth

This is so embarrassing for the BBC. Journalists, MPs, public should be calling this out. We desperately need a strong, independent, ambitious BBC! Let this humiliating episode be the turning point
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

It really matters because Farage relies on both a veneer of public ‘respectability’ *and* an undercoat of racism to further his bid for power. He won’t get there without both. So, it’s very important that the ‘respectability’ element is justifiably stripped away.

Was it normal to say that Hitler was right & announce their classmates needed to be gassed for their ethnicity? No.
Then, “Hopefully he learnt from that”. But he hasn’t has he? He doesn’t empathize with anyone who has been haunted by his ugly racism for 40 yrs.
We all hear exactly the same person.

That Enoch Powell fandom is really telling. I'm surprised that's not the story actually because it's firmly on the record.

At some point Farage stopped talking about Powell - presumably because it became politically inconvenient to do so. No evidence of some Damascean conversion to reality.

If multiple people can remember someone being horribly racist, even by the appalling low bar of the racist 1970s, that is entirely noteworthy.

As an adult Farage fanboyed Enoch Powell - the most infamous racist of the 1960s - and long cited him as his political hero.

And that's noteworthy too.

Farage cited Enoch Powell as his political hero in an interview in Total Politics magazine in 2008.

In 2014 he cited Vladimir Putin as the world leader he most admired.

You want this guy as your next prime minister???

A small thought about the UK Budget. This long since ceased to be just about public finances, and is the government's main policy announcement for the year.

Yet that is not acknowledged.

Which incidentally are also almost certainly economically negative as well. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/24/b...
