Republicans decided to go home for the holidays, leaving millions of Americans staring down massive health care premium hikes.

They didn’t just clock out. They walked away from people’s lives. NOTE: These are all red or purple districts.

If you're not trans, I don't think I can fully explain how important this is.

It's so powerful that one of the most circulated science media publications in the world has come out and said "trans children are real and providing transition care improves their lives." That's groundbreaking.
The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

Think of AI instead of cigarettes here. Nothing is inevitable.
this is a good reminder of how things that are shitty but have been accepted as normal and inevitable can actually turn out to be abnormal and evitable with some science, time, education and political will

Dear World,

Marks are in, work is done, please now FUCK THE FUCK OFF for the next two weeks so we can try to put some brain cells back together before it all starts up again.

Yes, you there with the cankles and the tiny...hands...and the mind of a rotten peanut, that means you too.

Thx,

No limits to the ignorance & cruelty. Guess MTG had to pull one more evil move before cowering away. At least this restores a f*cked up sense of what to expect. One bill jails doctors who prescribe gender-affirming care to trans youth. Another blocks Medicaid dollars. 19thnews.org/2025/12/cong...
House Republicans advance sweeping anti-trans bills ahead of holiday break
One bill would jail doctors who prescribe gender-affirming care to trans youth. Another would block Medicaid dollars from funding that care.

Some good news found amongst the general shitebites emanating from the US Senate. And congrats to the lottamany people who made it happen.

Quick trivia question: For what did Steven Spielberg earn his first Hugo Award nomination?

The answer is "L.A. 2017," a dystopian vision of this city made uninhabitable by pollution.

He was only 25 when he directed it, making him the youngest Hugo-finalist director.

One theory I have is that competence, self-control, responsibility, and expertise have all been feminized, leaving “masculinity” with the realm of impulsivity and petulance. So the divide is not really between “femininity” and “masculinity” so much as between adulthood and childishness.
Everything else aside, the idea that this is a model for many men of *masculinity* is so wild. This? This is "manly"? This is how people think it's cool to act?

It's not a question of politics or party. Congress has a constitutional obligation to impeach and to remove a president who commits high crimes and misdemeanors and forsakes his solemn oath.

And there has never been a president who has committed as many impeachable offenses than this one.
There's a Hill bubble narrative, posing as savvy realism, in treating impeachment as some radioactive poison and so Democrats must squash any talk of it. But there's zero evidence for that. No polls back it up, nor recent history. It's all just pundit-brained conventional wisdom eating its own tail.

If you don't think political circumstances can shift, and you don't think your home might one day be a place that is unsafe for your family, you don't have the imagination to deal with SFF.
