Folks will lose their SNAP benefits next week. 42 million of them. 1.1 million just here in MN and WI.

So our food banks will be stretched really thin. I'll be sending some $$ to my local food bank so they can help keep my neighbors fed next month. Even just a little helps.
My tax money helps a stranger have fruit and vegetables. A Thanksgiving dinner. Snacks for after school. It helps stretch a parent's paycheck.

I may never need SNAP benefits myself, I know that. But for $32 a year, I can help a neighbor not suffer.
Doesn't that seem worth it?
Did you know the average American taxpayer pays about $32 a year to provide SNAP benefits?

My latte this morning was $8. For the equivalent of 4 lattes a year, my taxes help a neighbor feed themselves and their children.

Maybe I'm soooooo woke and awful, but I'm happy to give $32 each year.
I've looked up the roster. Is there an easy way to narrow it down to who's going to be playing tomorrow, or do all of the boys get to play hockey tomorrow?

Also I was pleasantly surprised that there are multiple players who are my age or older.
Omg I got invited to the Boy Aquarium tomorrow (Minnesota Wild) and I've never been, please give me the crash course on our boys.

(I'm a PWHL gal, I know the game, but I'm not on a first name basis with our men's team)
So if you know any singers whose lyrics do not include:
-suburbia
-wife+mother girlie vibes
-How a man saved their life
-Anything that could be seen as conservative codes

But do include:
-cheeky or raunchy phrases
-beats and instruments
-Collabs with other gals
-Perhaps a political stance
Ugh I have Taylor Swift album thoughts.

You know that mean girl from high school who became a nurse and has three sons with weird names and goes on and on about her "hubby"?

This album was written for her. And that's fine!

But I'm happily taking recommendations for albums that are the opposite.
Car free life, nearing end of month 6 update:

Current estimated savings: $1500ish (gas, insurance, oil change, parking fees)

But I've also gained so much joy and ease in my day to day travels. I walk or bike almost every day, I'm more confident using the bus for multiple errands, just happier.
We're interviewing a DNR fish expert tomorrow on the podcast!

What's your burning questions regarding fisheries, hatcheries, walleye, trouts and more?
Ooh, where did you stay?
Ha not this time. I hosted the Pickle Ball, a party where we make pickles and wear fancy clothes. My house does reel of brine and dill at the moment though.
I'm the woman your math problems warned you about.

Here is the episode in particular where she describes the online chatrooms that cultivate the behaviors, memes, language and symbols we see in many mass attacks.

Yes, I highly recommend folks listen to Weird Little Guys because Molly does an amazing job of explaining the online spaces that curate monsters and push them to take action. It's sickening and sometimes hard to listen to, but understanding why/how people go down this path is important.
If you can, consider donating blood/platelets/plasma.

I was a longtime plasma donor and every now and again I would get an update/thank you from a patient or care team.

It really does make a difference.
Reminder - There was a call for anyone who could to go donate blood in the Twin Cities as there was a critical level of supply. With two mass casualty events in two days those levels are going to be even lower. So anyone who can please donate blood. www.mbc.org/donate-blood...
Memorial Blood Centers provide most of the blood to local hospitals. www.mbc.org/donate-blood...

Minneapolis is beautiful.

The people of this city are remarkable.

Today is excruciating.
Thank you Night Mayor. Hahaha Ask James to send you a Nut Roll so you can share it with a pal sometime to get the experience. It's....something. 😆

Oh oops, South Uptown/Lyndale area
This week in Car Free life: mid century modern end table from FB Marketplace.

Pretty solid wood construction, but still wanted to detach the legs and wrap in a blanket.

$20, 20 minutes each way, and now I have a lovely little table for my living room. Easy peasy.
Minneapolis bike pals!
Anyone looking for a 1 bedroom apartment (first floor) in a quadplex of other bike people?

Locked garage available, secure underground storage too, cat friendly, and you get to be my neighbor! Rent is approx $1,000 a month and includes water, trash, heat.
Omg thank you! Honestly, most of these have zero wait at the library so I am THRILLED to jump in
Yes to Gideon but nope to the others, so they're going on the list!
I need a booktok/bookstagram/booksky pal who can recommend me every cool fiction that came out while I was in undergrad+grad school. Like what were the ACOTARs of 2011-2019 pls and thank you
