In developing a re-usable workflow for my teaching in Applied Geodata Science, I re-implemented the creation of this animation:

Incredible ice loss measured again at #Konkordiaplatz on the #Aletsch #Glacier, home to the thickest ice in the #Alps (still about 800 m!). Yesterday’s survey revealed another –4.6 m of ice gone in just one year. :(

5. A big part of the problem, ironically, is that natural regen is much cheaper/free, so there's less money to be made from it. There's an industrial lobby which profits from planting grim rows of trees in plastic tubes. There is no industrial lobby profiting from letting nature do its thing.

Kurz nachdem SRF-Moderator Christian von Burg das Aus des SRF-Wissenschaftsmagazins auf Linkedin kritisiert hat, verschwand sein Beitrag von der Plattform. Nun nutzte er mit seiner Moderationskollegin das Wissenschaftsmagazin am Samstag, um die SRG zu kritisieren.

We're lowering the barrier to entry for vegetation modelling. Our open-source modelling framework #rsofun, designed as a #Rstats package with efficient low-level code and a connection to #BayesianTools model calibration, is now on CRAN.
