The EEOC has just voted 2-1 to remove the entirety of its employer guidance on sexual harassment because portions of it protected trans people.

This administration is pro sexual harassment while simultaneously claiming they protect women.

The EEOC effectively just said they have no authority to issue guidance about the scope of Title VII when it comes to sexual harassment.
A screenshot of a transcript displaying remarks by Commissioner Brittany Panuccion. She is addressing "Chair Lucas" and arguing for a "complete recision" of a guidance document rather than a partial one or a revision. She lists reasons including that the guidance is "suspected in various respects," is already outdated, that private sector resources can update more quickly, and that keeping the guidance risks confusing the public about the commission's authority to interpret Title VII.

This will make it extremely difficult for women suffering from sexual harassment to bring claims before the EEOC. It also signals a shift in priority by the EEOC on sexual harassment that employers may take at a cue to not take it seriously.

This is a really bad moment for equality in the workplace
