My goal this year is to get one new subscriber for Unwinnable Monthly every day. Is that you, today? If you do it, you also get all 24 issues from 2025 right now, which is a pretty good distraction, if you want to be distracted.

Broke out my punk 7-inches to vent some spleen and The Dicks were the first one on the turntable. 1980. Describing the same violent, bullshit policing we still have 46 years later, and have had since time immemorial.

Maybe THIS time we'll stay angry enough to change things.

I've resolved to be more energetic in promoting Unwinnable this year. Stories deserve to be read! Readers deserve thoughtful stories! These things should be bullshit-free!

In more measurable terms, I'd like to get a new subscriber for every day of 2026.

Renee Nicole Good was murdered in cold blood and we all of us better get ready to say that over and over again in the coming days.

Let's walk through why Unwinnable is some of the goodest critical writing you can find today. I'm going through our Genuine Unintelligence issue (April, 2025) story by story to show you the stuff, then at the end you can smash the "subscribe button" up there because you've been blinded by our light.
Oh, it's a new year? Well lemme tell you something: the Unwinnable Year-End Subscription Special only ends when I say it does. So pretend it is still 2025 and grab those 24 issues for 5 bucks. unwinnable.com/subscribe/ @unwinnable.com

I appreciate games writing and criticism but much of it exists in a bubble. The thing I appreciate about Unwinnable is that it puts games alongside film, books and more, all as equally valid mediums in conversation with each other. Ive already discovered several new gems since subscribing last month

The algorithmic internet seems like a machine built to bring about its own self-destruction, which would be swell if it hadn't become the primary enabler of fascism on its way out.

Is Blue Planet an anticipation of the themes and visuals of the Avatar films? I have never seen an Avatar film and don't want to change that, but would be interested to see someone knowledgeable draw parallels.
