I remember learning proofs by more or less copying the wording I had seen the lecturer use, and only later really thought about if those things I was writing actually were true. Had I have access to a system that produces a correct looking thing, I would probably have used it.
In my experience the reason students use Gen AI (aside from just cheating, which cheaters will do anyway) is because Gen AI output looks like what they know they are aiming for, but don’t know how to do themselves. But there it is! They “have it.” [2/4]

Puh.

Quick question for a friend. How do you call it when a government just wholeheartedly attacks the free press? Whatever fears of a ministry of truth under any Dem you might have had, clearly this would be a good point to write those hard hitting Op-eds defending free speech and freedom of the press.

it's hard to process how “AI girlfriends” that engage in full-on porn are now normalised and readily available in app stores

Should I write a render function for plain text blocks? I could make it so that user can at least see it in the editor and maybe do a conversion to a normal image.

Gonna take a nap and think about it.

pov you ask me why gifs are so interesting.

It was already odd when style transfer or similar computer vision techniques were showcased in papers, using pictures of women (e.g. makeup being transfered from one woman onto another). This stuff feels simply as if thechnology is ending up where the direction was already pointing

Oh god I figured out why comments did not show line breaks. Now that they do so, I can even add a small tutorial-gif to the site that can load on startup.

The base explainer for my gif page is like 80-90% done. I'm gonna take a long nap and hopefully finish it before the weekend arrives.
Also started the refactoring and documentation in earnest.

There is very little left in terms of functionality and efficiency I still want to do.

Look at this bnuy losing color depht because an evil gif wizard (me) has trapped its form in an endless loop of torture.

I need to expand on my post yesterday about the transformation of the (social) media environment into a blood-sport equivalent to bear-baiting where the self-perceived audience are actually the entertainment, which comes about from taunting a reaction out of them. That AI post was exactly that.
Is this platform still against stabbing people in the eyes or has it moved more towards acceptance?

Sometimes your refactor process works like a charm because minimal code has been rewritten and you were careful enough to honor all internal dependencies, and sometimes you misstyped and now some buttons do not work anymore -.-

Learning of the day: running a full kmeans on 4K images to get 256 color groups is not a good idea. I guess a better naive approach would be to set initial centroids to be spaced out pure red, green, and blue points and then do only one iteration.
November 25, 2025 at 8:50 PM
Couldn't really sleep last night so I have now a nearly finished image upload to add images into gifs.
Still needs some work and the posterization could probably be more efficient.

Also started writing a kind of guide and readme. I keep pushing the refactor back, but I swear I will do it eventually

Argh the Content-Security-Policy from neocities does not like me displaying my gifs via a url created from the blob. Welp, guess I gotta find another way if I want a preview.
November 25, 2025 at 12:11 AM
Why did I not think about doing a gif preview sooner?
It should be relatively easy if I use the blobs and an img element. Only downside is that this will lead to plain text extensions not being rendered because most browser seem to not support it.

Adobe's creative cloud and their software updates have to be sme of the worst user experience things I ever had. It is slow for seemingly no reason on startup and will eat up every rescource available for updates. Also you can't even switch languages in the software without having to reinstal it.

Green box gang rise up!
Who needs fancy schmancy and slick design when you have "border: rgb(0,161,3) solid 3px;" at your disposal?
November 24, 2025 at 4:36 AM
Slowly but surely my gif editor gets closer to completion. With today's update you can add and modify plain text extensions, a feature nearly no gif viewer supports 👍
Because the compact look works pretty neat I am not going to implement any "set this value for all elements" menue just yet.

I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

I think the shortest version of why LLMs are an anti education technology is that education is fundamentally about making shared context to understand ourselves, each other, and the world

And by design LLMs destroy shared context
