A poem cannot bring back the dead.

A poem cannot erase the pain of the bereaved.

A poem can mourn.

I thank The Wire for honouring the memory of the deceased. May their loved ones find the strength to carry on.

We mourn the ones we can.

I would like to believe that my taste in music is different and better than the brainrot that my brain decides to play on loop in the background.

Taking a step forward in this world with high levels of anxiety feels like walking underwater. Not underwater in some pristine river, underwater in a sewage canal.

'The Dream of Zulaykha', painted by Mughal artists 100 years apart. Left painting from 1670 (Amer Album), right one from 1770 (Lucknow).

Joseph (Yusuf), a paragon of beauty, appears to Zulaykha in her dreams. In the left pic he is dressed in very typical Mughal muslin garments.

I want to start reading some prehistoric fiction before the end of this year. Inviting recommendations.

As a kid, I once had a dream about my school turning into a dinosaur zoo. Vikraal Gabraal aesthetics. Call me crazy but we missed out on haunted places with dinosaur ghosts in a movie.

I started using Fable to record my progress with books and TV shows. It even has book clubs. However, the number of users are not a lot right now. Does anybody else here use it? You can even directly import your data from Goodreads. It seems like a promising platform.

I had avoided Twitter since the beginning. After hearing people on Bluesky talk about leaving X and enjoying this platform, I also feel good to be here. It's like they have escaped Delhi's AQI. Breathe easy, people. ☺️

Between 1960 and 1980, this synthetic saree known simply as “Mala Shari” was a staple in every woman’s closet in Bangladesh. Made of nylon and rolex zari, it was the more affordable alternative to locally produced katan sarees and (more importantly) imported sarees from India and Pakistan.
