I turn 40 today and have no wisdom to show for it. I was born the year Chernobyl happened and the world still feels irradiated. But hey, nothing good ever happened because good people have up so we keep going. Things won't get better, they'll be *made* better by people. Anyway, here we go again.

I didn’t want to post the chants but I feel I have to, to underline how absolutely insane it is that there is total unanimity on this from far right to the Sensible centre, while it’s crystal clear to football fans and almost nobody at all is saying “This all looks quite fishy”.

I will allow a social media ban for kids if they also open a whole raft of third spaces where kids are allowed and encouraged to hang out, places that are funded and inclusive and safe. Until we give kids genuine spaces of their own, we can't get angry if they create them online.

they didn’t leak it to make the shooter look innocent, but to make the victim look guilty. not guilty of a crime. guilty of having a visibly queer wife. guilty of liberalism. guilty of opposing the regime. they don’t seek to exonerate themselves, only to demonstrate who deserves to die.
In the video that the shooter took, which I believe was leaked to be exculpatory, he appears to yell “fucking bitch” after he shoots Renee Good.

I can understand why some high profile people won't want to leave Twitter entirely in case they are impersonated. The answer, though, isn't to stay on there indefinitely, the answer is the complete destruction of Twitter. We need to make sure there is no benefit to anyone to its existence.
