taking a long hot bath and laying down so your ears go below the water like you're in a sensory deprivation chamber is the closest humans will get to returning to the primordial soup
sugimototeru.bsky.social
my last bathroom just had a standing shower and i forgot that when you buy a shower curtain it needs RINGS for the curtain rod so i've just been taking baths and y'all.... it's so nice... i love becoming human soup

Very excited to share the preview of my contribution to #LoreHueyZine organized by @nucarnievents.bsky.social ✨️
A series of journal entries written by a certain researcher from the Council of Sorcery documents his observations of the Grand Sorcerer...
Previews: "Some of the Grand Sorcerer's uses of essence, while not yet fully understood, are well-documented—such as the ability to regulate altars and create contracts. It has recently come to the attention of this Council member that the Grand Sorcerer has an ability yet to be recorded: the power to use essence to create familiars.
As a member of the Council that is associated with the Grand Sorcerer, I had understood that this ability existed, in concept. The Grand Sorcerer on occasion will mention the existence of a familiar, but pressing him on the subject has resulted in few answers. On the 23rd of this month I visited the Grand Sorcerer's manor for the first time and made two key discoveries relevant to the research of the Council."

this is the point where i give up temporarily and work on something else for a bit until i regain the strength to continue hkfjfjkdlsl

yep :/ and that's why i buy clothing almost exclusively secondhand. either i can find older clothing that's actually good quality, or at the very least i'm keeping some fast fashion garbage out of the landfill until it's completely unwearable, then i use the fabric scraps for something else

i'm so hungry bc i've been laying in bed napping all day, but eating requires getting out of bed......
sugimototeru.bsky.social
being your own tailor is cheaper than hiring a professional tailor, but I don't know anyone who can afford to go to a professional tailor for all of their clothes. fast fashion is so dirt cheap in comparison that's it's honestly sickening
sugimototeru.bsky.social
yeah like, sewing your own clothes is cheaper in the way that it's cheaper to cook a fancy meal for yourself instead of hiring a professional chef to make it, but buying the nice ingredients is still expensive compared to eating fast food
sugimototeru.bsky.social
Schools don't teach home ec anymore and basically all sewing has been offshored so most Americans genuinely do not know how much work it takes to make even a simple shirt or pants. When you're used to $5 tshirts of course a $100 tshirt will seem absurd; but that's how much it should actually cost!
sugimototeru.bsky.social
I sew because I love sewing even though it's expensive, because it's a hobby. If my friends need help with making or repairing a garment, I always do it at the cost of materials because it would be unaffordable to charge for labor even at min wage--but I have over a decade of sewing experience
sugimototeru.bsky.social
People always assume that bc I enjoy sewing that it saves me money on clothes, which is insane. It costs way more money to make your own clothes in the USA than to buy clothing made with exploited labor. I save money by buying clothes at the thrift store and wearing them until the fabric falls apart
sugimototeru.bsky.social
This is exactly why I haven't gone through with selling anything I sew despite enjoying making stuff for other people. The price of materials alone is more expensive than buying a finished garment; adding min wage labor costs would cost an astronomical amount even for simple pieces

This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."
sugimototeru.bsky.social
truthfully i think towa would want to do both and taku would want to do neither 😂
sugimototeru.bsky.social
idk if he's implying he wants taku to use it on him or if he wants to use it on taku and idk which one makes his reaction funnier

so like genuine question, what happens if you pay to have a package insured and it gets Destroyed
dieworkwear.bsky.social
About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages
Business Insider headline reads: UPS is telling customers that their packages coming to the US are marked for destruction.
