“No, Speaker Johnson — the No Kings rally on October 18 is not a hate America rally. In fact, it’s quite the contrary: It’s a love America rally.” #NoKings

And here’s another one…
Small Acts of Resistance black and white illustrations suggesting actions you can take to resist fascism/authoritarian takeover.

Also, here’s something else…
A hand-drawn black-and-white illustration entitled "Small Acts of Resistance (in no particular order.)" Includes suggestions like writing so many letters to your elected officials that "their offices are full of physical mailbags that get in the way and continually remind them that they are doing wrong." Other random suggestions: put flag stamps upside-down on mail; barter, trade, or borrow things instead of buying new; use cash instead of cards when you do need to buy stuff; shop small and local; lift weights and eat fruits and veggies to stay well; etc.

Thank you for saying this!!! The red-and-blue-state notion is an artificial construct—the result of politicians choosing their voters rather than the other way around. Without unfair gerrymandering, we would all just be states. And the individual votes of everyone in every state would really count.

I’ve noticed more and more of them lately. Perhaps a sign that the administration is getting nervous.

The Guardian story about this said the following: “A technical glitch – crossed wires from another broadcast in Miller’s earpiece – caused him to stop talking before completing his thought, CNN said.”

But that sounds pretty fishy to me. I am not sure what to believe.
susanbrackney.bsky.social
That the interviewer suggested that there was a technological problem or freeze-up was bananas. You can see Miller swaying back and forth slightly and his eyes are still moving around. He just stops like his battery died. Absolutely bizarro.

There were still guardrails in place for his first presidency. There were “adults in the room“ as they say who told him things like, “No, sir, you may not shoot protesters in the legs.”

It is up to all of us to actively and fearlessly resist in in whatever ways we are able to.
Some are posting on social media.
Some are protesting in the streets.
Some are donating silently.
Some are educating themselves.
Some are having tough conversations with friends and family.

A revolution has many layers. Be kind to yourself and to others who are traveling in the same direction. Just keep your foot on the gas.

I sure hope there are some good people running against this person.

Yeah. I was wondering if maybe they were given a special lunch from that CAVA chain. Their voluminous bags can hold a lot of dough.

It appears that the numbers on the alt text had incorrect area codes associated with them. I have deleted my original post and corrected it for the person who asked for the numbers. Thank you for pointing out this mistake!
susanbrackney.bsky.social
Please note that the numbers in the alt text do not match the numbers in the graphic. Area codes should be 202.

Call in numbers: (302)748-8000
(302)748-8001
(302)748-8002
(302)748-8003

Call speaker Johnson and ask about the Epstein files.

Journalist Edward R. Murrow used his platform on CBS to criticize the witch hunts led by Senator Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s.

This is what real journalism should do — hold power to account, not capitulate to it.

These people are doing their best to keep track. Someday these lawless officials will be held to account in court.

Thoughts from today: when you're sharing news stories, are you framing your presentation of said story in a way that promotes your ultimate goal of restoring democracy? Are you motivating people to take action? Or scaring the shit out of them? Is your framing aiding the fascists or fighting them?

But this is buried in here: “A list of proposed reforms meant to improve military recruitment includes one that would require all students at federally funded schools to complete the military’s entrance exam. But it wouldn’t force them to enlist or involve a draft.”

Acquiescence, despair, apathy, nihilism… none of that is helpful right now.

There are wonderful, independent reporters working hard to provide us with real news. They deserve our support—especially at this critical time in our history. Many good people on Substack.
susanbrackney.bsky.social
Yep. They want to control the narrative. These Republican-led maneuvers are intended to make us dumber, poorer, sicker, weaker.

I heard it had to do with their lithium reserves. Pretty sure that’s what these people want.

Good idea! You might be able to dig into Open Secrets and the Federal Election Commission Campaign Finance data tool (www.fec.gov/data/) in order to start compiling a list. Of course, the guy’s swimming in $$
