Grouse on the Lek
Acrylic on panel
16x20

The males battle it out on the Leks
at sunrise during their short mating season. Greater Sage Grouse are indicator species; if they’re healthy then the sagebrush ecosystem is healthy.

Painting of two male Greater Sage Grouse engaging with one another. Their feathers are ornate and detailed with different stripes and patterns. They’re surrounded by grasses and sagebrush. The background depicts a sunrise with a yellow sky and distant hazy purple mountains.

Starting some paintings today.

Then, I created a sheet mulch garden bed in the yard. Come spring we’ll have a dedicated pollinator garden! Gonna start shallots for the border & let it mellow out for a while before sowing wildflower seeds. A combo of natives I collected & a Territorial Seeds mix!

If you love PNW wildlife, this pal should be on your radar.

The Pacific marten. They’re adorable, curious, carnivorous forest critters. But rarely seen.

They were considered virtually extinct for 50 years! Loss of habitat & human actions are the suspected cause.

Close-up of a watercolor painting of a pine marten, its fur depicted in shades of reddish-brown and light brown. The artwork is displayed on a square piece of white paper, surrounded by natural elements such as pine cones, dried orange slices, and green plants. The overall aesthetic is autumnal and nature-inspired.

My painting “Amanita Troupe“

A delightful little grouping of Amanita Muscaria I found in an alpine meadow on a sweltering late summer day.

Little nuggets of perfection found w/ the dappled sun light dancing all around them.

Acrylic painting featuring four vibrant red and white toadstools nestled amongst dark green grass and moss. The mushrooms have white spots and are depicted with realistic detail. The background is a dark, moody green, suggesting a forest setting. A selfie of the artist holding their painting of mushrooms and moss in a forest setting. The painting 8 inches by 10 inches.

Not all foraging finds are created equally.

One of the many reasons to steer clear of roads is run-off and depending where you are, trash. 😬

Picking chanterelles in the OR coast range a couple days ago.

Angry forest wasps: 1
Me: 0

It wasn’t a bust though!

Look at this skull and mushrooms I stumbled upon! It was perfectly next to the mushies. Looks like a mountain beaver to me.

Guess I’m the bone collector now 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yay, so exciting! I hope you enjoy your new mushroom art!
