Neither shark nor dinosaur, to my lingering disappointment. Still, on the plus side, mammals do have better music.
There's an episode of Bod on BBC4 tonight! At 8:15! Bod! Alert, alert, this is not a drill!

These are real faces, aren't they. Sculptures moulded from real people. Your actual 13th century Nigerians, looking right back at you. Blimey.

It’s truly baffling to me that so many of these stories focus on “wow big fish” and not “this is an IUCN Red List Critically Endangered species that is extremely physiologically fragile and often does not survive fishing practices like this”

I of course welcome the recognition of the state of Palestine.

And there won't be a Palestinian state left if government's continue enabling Israel's unfolding genocide.

Labour can't credibly support Palestinian statehood whilst also continuing to arm Israel.

DON'T MOVE THE ROCKS! Rocks in & around rivers are important habitats for salamanders, macro-invertebrates, fish and more! When you move these rocks for useless internet points on social media, you change the flow & increase sedimentation, which affects what can survive there.

I started using DuckDuckGo when Google got so awful. Now in the last few days I've had to turn off AI assist and AI images. Why would anybody want AI images in a search?! They are the opposite of helpful. Even Ecosia (the eco choice!) pushes AI now. I'm running out of search options.

You’ll all have seen the many announcements and PR pieces from #ColossalBiosciences. There are reasons to be concerned about the general message promoted by CB, one being that it is seen >by some< (US politicians in particular) as meaning that we can devalue conservation. A 🧵 1/n

A white-tailed bumble bee just flew down my t-shirt while I was pruning the buddleia out on the street. It's very difficult to coax a bee out of your t-shirt without looking very strange! And there's a *lot* of walkers this evening. (The bee is fine.)

One of the saddest things about ponding is when a dragonfly fails to emerge successfully. This one has a badly deformed body, and the wings have hardened without separating. Usually this happens when they emerge in a cramped space, though that doesn't seem to have been the case here.
