It’s finally here! Publication day! And not, as my phone keeps autocorrecting it, ‘pub location’ day. 😂

‘Chaos Theory’ has been nurtured for 4.5 years, and now it’s finally out in the world, going on its own adventures. You can get it as paperback, e-book and audiobook.

Appalling sound to be exposed to.

My mam has traumatic memories of being fed cod liver oil on a spoon as a child in the 1950s!

Have you considered the price of golf membership though? I was astounded! Start saving now!

There’s an episode of Seinfeld where George wants to name a (future, unborn) child Seven. Someone steals his idea and he tries to convince them to give up Seven and instead name their child Soda.

It was so good, Aoife! Really intrigued by Mrs Caliban, sounds like my jam.

Don’t know if it’s quite a romcom but this is really funny. Jamie Dornan as-you’ve-never-seen-him-before is a highlight!

'I was offered a two-book deal by Storm Publishing in July '24. One of the conditions of the deal was that I’d be willing to make some changes to the as-yet-untitled Chaos Theory...my first reaction to this proposal was hesitation'

Oh yes, saw this at the IFI when it came out. It was part of a whole movement in Danish cinema, I think it was called dogme. It was excellent.

I want to write about robots. I don’t want robots to write about me, or for me.

I strongly suspect she’s making more from TEACHING others how to do this grift, than the grift itself.

Where is copyright law in all this? Is there anything to stop someone else taking and selling her terrible Ai slop books? Presumably they can’t be copyrighted as they’re not original works.

This is why I now script all speeches.

I once started a leaving do speech for a team member with the phrase “our soon-to-be-dearly-departed Abigail”.

💯 I’m unfollowing anyone who’s doing it!

Oh my god, yes!! I’m biting my tongue so much I’m tasting blood! I’m especially sad when I see authors doing this. Authors who, as a group, have had their work stolen/pirated and used to train LLMs.

Once again sharing the art my dad drew on our backyard wall, to show that you don’t need Ai or an education or permission to be creative or to make art.

He did this for no one but himself. He said he could see the faces in the stones.

Have they not played Daly Thompson’s Decathlon? There was a javelin and a shotput and a sprint and hurdles and, uh, that’s all I can remember!

Good point!

Also -

I hate this view of art being a product, an end result, an output to be monetised and sold, instead of an experience or anything with an internal dimension or value.
