One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

Let’s interview Sam Altman’s nannies about whether they’re using ChatGPT

Jimmy Fallon doing a softball interview with a sociopath who's actively making the world worse? Truly can't believe this, a moment entirely without precedent.
Jimmy Fallon: "And do you use ChatGPT when raising your baby?"

Sam Altman: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."

Like many people, I was raised without the assistance of a misinformation machine.

I can’t tell you how frustrating it is trying to explain to a coworker that believes humans learn and speak the same way LLMs do. He honestly believes we learn to think and speak thru developing a lifelong statistical model of words. And it just makes me so blueberry.
This is a perfect explanation of why 'AI' that exists is nothing like and can never be anything like the 'AI' of science fiction that the grifters want us to believe this 'AI' is.

Job ads should have a "how many clicks before I see the salary" number next to them.

Making job applicants pretend they aren't interested in the salary is such a bizarre fantasy to indulge. We should be able to call it a religion and tell them it's inappropriate at work.

This sent me to Linda Fiorentino’s Wikipedia page. I was always intrigued by what happened to her career and remembered her reputation as being “difficult”. Reading it, I see where some of the “difficulties” may have stemmed from.

Good god.

In *addition* to it being ugly AI slop with gross images and atonal singing, its message is ugly, too.
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

I'd forgotten who he was.

To save you asking google, he's that pharma businessman who wanted to be president earlier this year.
"Gareth Sheridan went to Tucker Carlson's Christmas party" is already crazy, but "Gareth Sheridan took a photo with the world's most famous antisemitic conspiracy theorist, then voluntarily posted it on the Internet" is blowing my fucking mind

I haven't seen that show Landman, but I hope the opening credits song is The Rembrandts singing "oil be there for you".

Good on Penn Jillette. Having to come to terms with your entire political identity and philosophy being wrong is not easy and most people could never do it.

Or at least watch the start of Ridley Scott's Napoleon, which features Marie Antoinette going to a guillotine.

I'm not sure it's in the self interest of America's tech bro billionaires to suggest that we bring back public executions to punish the most destructive people in our society.

Some good insights here IMO
Here's the thing about Sydney Sweeney: she is famous but she is not popular.

I wrote about her attempt to clean up the good jeans controversy with too-late PR, and why her attempts to be a major star are faltering.
