I’m ready.
I brought together something I am deeply proud of, driving resolve for a different way to approach mental health “prevention.”
The status quo must end.
This abstract opens my MHPCP Manifesto.
Text of abstract (Exactly 150 words): “Mental health prevention is preventing itself from truly acting in the public good. Research is searching, but are they ever finding? Next directions? What direction? The people call without calling for mental health prevention to be more than a program with small visions of what mental health prevention means. Small vision. Small results. We must embrace a different way arising from reckoning with the past. Robust mental health preventive efforts have never existed. No efforts were there before I started whimpering in emotional pain. No support. My whimper transformed into a guttural scream in agony. I was seen. We were seen. Treatment became our norm. A different way comes from facing the pain inflicted. A different way comes from a future where prevention becomes infrastructure. A different way from a different credential, Mental Health Preventive Care Practitioners (MHPCP). Ready for a different way? Ready or not, this is happening. Now.”

Every country should have responded with record investments in public health infrastructure.

Instead the US government is putting us all at greater risk of more catastrophes by firing hundreds of top scientists whose job is to prevent outbreaks.
