Made this as a way to talk about moderation more freely, to maintain some lists, to learn, and to share the occasional funny or scary story about it.

Good faith questions welcomed, bad faith questions and sealioning muted, rude replies blocked.

We've introduced a new label and associated blocklist: Intolerance. We have also depreciated the Dehumanizing Rhetoric and Discriminatory Language labels in favor of this one, which will capture a broader swath of behavior that users want out of their timelines.

My brother in christ, you are literally describing All Teh Apps. All of them. Shit, even video games fall into the category of "produces information to the government when required to do so."

Oh thank fucking God, Clearsky has put "people blocking me" and "lists I'm on" behind a login wall
We've gotten a lot of questions about the new log in feature. We are committed to your privacy and will never access data we don't need.

None of the lists maintained here do that.

The corrective action is to realize it.

Why am I labeled as a Nazi?
Why are Antifa people labeled as Nazis?
What do I need to do to get this corrected?

Describing a 72-hour ban that you caught and lied about as being "disappeared" when there are people being disappeared in actual fact every day is certainly a choice.

Your ideas are very simple and very obvious, and like everything in T&S, you should consider that maybe after over two decades, the reason we as a profession are not using the simple and obvious ideas is either that we tried them and they don't work, or they're nowhere near as simple as you think.

A general reminder that the labels do what they say on the box. There are very few new false positives being added to the MAGA list and most folks are discovering accounts that were labeled months ago that have not yet been discovered.

It seems that moderation lists are functioning correctly now and accounts added to them are now being blocked for me. Which is good because there were new troll accounts on those lists who were not getting blocked.

As a reminder, the lists here that automatically track engagement are not lists of "supporters". The names and descriptions do not suggest any intent (whether it is to support or oppose) on the part of those on it.

They also include the actions which lead to being listed.
@talesofmoderation.bsky.social why did you add me to a list of JD Vance supporters?

Last week a big starter pack booster (earthbound420) got removed and now today their alt (earthbound420plus) is too.

I always hope it means bsky has decided to rein in starter pack abuse, but what they need most are some guardrails on that feature.
Looks like projecttwosix.bsky.social was kicked today. It was tightly connected with the Britt/Donk/Foxy ring of boosters, so my assumption is it was an alt of Donk trying to evade suspension.

Let's see if it stays suspended. And how they wait to try again.

Blocklists are themselves opinions. Adding someone to a blocklist is an opinion. If adding someone to a blocklist is "punishing people for having wrong opinions"(*) then complaining about being added to a blocklist is also "punishing people for having wrong opinions", you can't have it both ways!

The misinfo list captures follow farming, mass-following, and actual examples of misinformation or propaganda.

So despite what "Facts Central" says, the recent influx of blue-checked .gov accounts are all on there.
I'm on a few block lists as well for reasons I don't get
On this one could be you just "follow too many account to ever keep up with what they actually post"
Lots of people there, but not seeing the Trump Misadministration, so...

Do mine eyes deceive me or do the warnings on posts now indicate if the warning was applied because the entire account is labeled?

Nice.

The entire purpose of a block list is to block specific types of accounts. Interaction is not required.

Being able to remove yourself from a moderation list would defeat its entire purpose for moderation. That’s why Bluesky doesn’t provide that ability.
@talesofmoderation.bsky.social Could you please remove me from your "mis / disinformation risks" list?

I do not peddle in disinformation, and it appears people use your list to blindly block accounts they've never interacted with. BlueSky doesn't seem to allow us to remove ourselves from lists.

PSA: Before this "dislike" thing gets out of hand, because I've seen some very big accounts misinforming people, here's what it actually is.

It's a private option that lets you see less of topics you're not interested in on certain feeds. That's it.

It's not a downvote, thumbs down, etc.
