My pet theory is that CEO/celebrity/billionaire brain rot and ChatGPT psychosis have exactly the same causal mechanism. Someone please do a PhD on this and let me know.

A doctor just asked me if I use recreational drugs and I said "Alas, no". Which is probably the second worst answer after "Why? You got any?"

I don't know why billionaires buy superyachts when ferries that trains go on exist.

Wool map of Ireland a great yarn for Co Wicklow friends
A 12ft by 11ft wool map of Ireland, which took four years of knitting and crocheting to complete, is in search of a new home to go on public display.

Grocery prices are OUT OF CONTROL.

People across Ireland are feeling the pinch every week at the till but there’s still no transparency on why prices are rising so fast.

This week, the Social Democrats are putting forward a motion in the Dáil to change that. 👇

I'm teach design. Which is, according to Jack Chambers, "nice colours and all that".

Here's Jack's own gov's plan for design-led public services. Seems like a long document when you could just say "nice colours and that", but I guess that level of efficiency is why he's minister for finance.

Question for those in #optics
What the hell is happening with this wire stripper under low pressure sodium light? Does anything fluoresce under that long a wavelength? It's like it's auditioning to be the girl in Schindler's List

Look, gender recognition was brought in to cut the Gordian knot of the ways law and gender are messily entangled. If you roll it back, you're in exactly the same situation that caused it to be brought in in the first place. This isn't "common sense", it's retrograde and doesn't solve anything.

All you fancy coastal city people with your fancy parades. But did any of you get to see a converted hearse pickup? I think not.

Would there be any interest in a creative technology / creative coding course for coders?

Everyone's always trying to teach artists to code, but I rarely see anything about teaching coders art.

AirBnBs and short stay lets should be visible as what they are (businesses). If we're not going to meaningfully crack down on them, they should at minimum be forced to put up signage like a shop.

(Not that shops are forced to put up signage, but you know what I mean)

It's a comparatively small but of pre-emptive kowtowing to a fascist government, but Jesus Google dropped "don't be evil" with such force that it gave them acceleration in the opposite direction.
Hey Google, WTAF?!

Apparently I should not have presumed that part of the point of building more homes was to reduce the price of them. Silly me.

I know Beet Ireland fought the fight for years in Ireland to bring the sugar industry back before selling their site last year, but our lack of domestic sugar production is such a massive gaping hole in our food security. Maybe Martin Heydon will be willing to take another look at it.

Correction: Viagra and Botox.
I'm no economist, so I don't even know if this is feasible, but if Trump overturns the WTO's 0% tariff on pharma, we should put a whopper tariff on Viagra and Viagra only.
