Been working on this thing on and off for over a year - finally finished.

A few years ago I was walking around Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire with some family members and passed a fellow with an interesting haircut walking the other way, talking on his phone about old photographs. Realized quickly that it was Ken Burns.
In the early 90s I shared a hotel elevator with Emilio Estevez and I got out on my floor not having exchanged a single word with him
Please quote this from the time you didn't interact with someone famous.

I was visiting with family in New Bedford, Massachusetts, at the same time that Mother Theresa was there visiting her Missionaries of Charity. The bishop held a Mass for her at the church where I was baptized. I didn't go.

Oh Google, why you gotta make your texting system so much shittier than it already was? Why you gotta make me wish for Google Voice that we had ten years ago...

I'm sure this will raise some hackles, but I feel like the generational bickering thing is basically like a currently-acceptable form of racism: attributing negative characteristics to an entire class of people and treating them as a single monolithic entity that all share the same aspects.

The wife and I caught "Wake Up Dead Man" last night and really enjoyed it.

I'm very surprised that I haven't heard more bleating from the MAGA crowd about it - Rian Johnson made his feelings on the subject pretty clear.

My latest obsession: perfecting my French omelet game. Working on getting that perfect banana- or football-shaped yumminess with a custardy interior. My wife is my happy and willing guinea pig.

No…I am your father, Charlie Brown.
Where we're going, we won't need eyes to see, Charlie Brown.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain, Charlie Brown.

So apparently listening to Carpenters albums will still make me cry.

This sucks. I used to torment my former team with “Beer Run” when we’d all get together and I had them trapped in my car (after setting them up with “The Road Goes On Forever and the Party Never Ends”).

Guess everything does end after all.

Songwriting Legend Todd Snider Has Died - Saving Country Music
The world has lost a light, and of the most unique, interesting, compelling, challenging, mercurial, iconoclastic, and influential songwriters to ever ply the craft. Todd Snider wasn't just a singer o...

If you are a gamer, do not be tempted by the LG G4 OLED - it's beautiful for movies and shows but if you try to play a console through it, you will spend most of your time staring at a screen that says "no signal". And it's absolutely a problem with the tv that LG refuses to do anything about.

If you’re still on Xitter then you are telling the world that you care more about your engagements and follower count than supporting actual Nazis.

Spent four lovely hours tubing on the Shenandoah River today, and having finally learned my lesson, I was very careful to apply - and reapply - generous amounts of high SPF sunscreen.

I am now discovering all the spots I missed...

Hey, wasn't there a whole thing where we absolutely had to annex Greenland or some shit? What happened with that? Weird.

Getting really tired of the "If you're using AI you're not a real artist" posts - the problem isn't artists who use AI and pretend to be artists, the problem is businesses who just want "product" and don't care where it comes from - and if they can get it for "free" that's all that matters to them.

The least believable part of Superman wasn’t flying humanoid aliens, or people who can turn into any element, or magic power rings, but the idea that conservatives would change their minds on something based on a newspaper report.

Once "content" - not art, not music, not writing - became a commodity, it was inevitable that a capitalist system would want to maximize output while minimizing cost.

When I see "content" I can't help replace it with "shit". That's all these companies want - a machine that makes shit.

Completely snarky thought - I wonder how many people complaining (rightly) about generative AI have Napstered music or torrented movies...
