I've seen a lot of "what can I do to stop this" over the last few days.

I want to take a minute to talk about how you engage with your Member of Congress to create change.

Tldr: Call. Don't email, don't tweet, don't fax, don't write. Call.
1) These statements trigger me for their unprofessionalism.

2) These individuals getting here were a priority of *both* parties

3) If the report is accurate, *his own administration* admitted him

You know who hasn’t cowered in the face of terrible violence and changed what they believe?

Minnesota Democrats, who saw one of their own actually get gunned down by a pro-Trump lunatic.

These people are cowards.
“He isn’t worried about Trump’s political wrath; he doesn’t plan to run for reelection.

His fear of speaking out is much more personal: ‘I’d rather my house not get firebombed’”

As many, many former counterterrorism analysts and officials said was the danger. Not spiking the ball. Just saying, professionals saw this potential and said don’t go this route. The administration chose a different path.
With DC shooter now identified as an Afghan national not the antifa secret agent White House hoped for a good time to remember the Trump admin has gutted domestic anti-terrorism capacity and reassigned many to finding grandmothers to arrest at immigration hearings.

Trump was at his West Palm Beach golf course when the National Guard shooting took place.

Trump has already spent $70 million of taxpayer money on golfing in less than a year as president.

If this pace keeps up, he will spend $300 million playing golf by the time his second term ends.

Just a reminder that a lot of great staffers for Republicans fought like hell to get many refugees in during the administration.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Trump calls for reinvestigation of all Afghan refugees who entered under Biden admin after National Guard shooting.

I just rewatched SHATTERED GLASS (and reread the article, which being by Buzz Bissinger is great) and it's really a portrayal of a very specific moment - that brief period when people didn't realize that the internet let everyone factcheck, but before rampant shamelessness.
Honestly the combination of the alleged source betrayals and secret recordings and the way this has rolled out has just fundamentally fucked us all in a way that’s bigger than the Stephen Glass scandal by a significant margin, and I think everyone is grappling with that in real time

DC isn't safe so let's hold a random press conference outside haphazardly on some steps
Hegseth's demeanor is bizarre. He's almost on the verge of laughing while talking about the shooting of two National Guardsmen. He seems elated.

Absolutely fucking unacceptable to be issuing statements before next of kin notifications.

Clown show from the top down. We're better than this.

Terrible tragedy that should not have happened but this underscores why they shouldn't have been there to begin with.

That metro station is one of the most protected in the city (without the National Guard) due to its proximity to WH, Treasury, the mall, etc.

I'm so sorry for their families.
National Guard personnel typically patrol Farragut West Metro Station where the shooting had occurred.-NYT

As in the shooter likely knew to go to that station, lending more to the theory this was a targeted attack.

Shit.
There is a ground stop at National Airport.

Secret Service shut down 17th & Constitution, motorcade drove through, ambulance drove up on to the Mall, someone was loaded on to a chopper & flown off

Was a regular chopper, not a Marine Chinook, but still makes me think about people near or at the White House who would have USSS protection.

I'll note, too, that they were shot in a lower-crime part of the city and not the part we've seen a bunch of fed checkpoints.
Doesn't matter what the facts turn out to be. This is now pretext for further crackdowns on the Left and restrictions on civil rights.
I see it's about to be "wildly speculate in advance of actual information" o'clock here

The docs also reveal the number of hours the FBI devoted to the project, which required some agents to work nights and weekends. The FBI paid personnel $851,344 in overtime for working on the Epstein files between March 17 and March 22.

Being among the first interrogated and ultimately fired by DOGE, I certainly felt we were facing the business end of a right-wing conspiracy theory 🧵
DOGE was not a money-saving effort. It was an effort to chase down and prove right-wing conspiracy theories. They went after USAID to prove conspiracy theories about foreign aid. Then they went after SSA to, again, pursue conspiracy theories about Dems paying "illegals" to vote. 1/2
All DOGE accomplished was purging critical government staff, handing private data to outsiders, and sentencing thousands in developing countries to death by gutting USAID.

I don’t say this lightly: if there were any justice in this world, the people responsible for this devastation would be in jail
