1.5 million Canadians have received care under the new dental plan!
Such an honour to be in Skidegate to witness the signing of the Chiix̲uujin / Chaaw K̲aawgaa “Big Tide (Low Water)” Haida Title Lands Agreement.

A huge milestone in the journey toward reconciliation between Canada and the Haida.

Congrats to the generations of leaders whose work led to this. Haawa!
Trump’s tariffs on Canadian aluminum are unfair and unproductive. We’re pushing the government to counter with targeted tariffs on US products and find new markets for Canadian aluminum. We’ll do everything we can to support the 1,500 workers at the Kitimat smelter.
Merci à l’AFFNO de m’avoir invité à ses festivités de la Cabane à Sucre à Prince Rupert. Cet organisme joue un rôle important dans la promotion de la langue et de la culture françaises dans notre région. De plus, la nourriture y est délicieuse!
Both Nordic and alpine skiing facilities in our region are having to adapt to warmer winters with less snow and more rain. It’s great to see the Shames team has a plan to adapt and grow, something I hope the federal government can support.
It was interesting to learn about their climate resilience work at Shames. Due to efforts last season, the mountain was able to open a full month earlier than usual, despite a lower-than-normal snowpack.
I get to meet with stakeholders in some unique “board rooms” — from riverbanks and underground mines to fire halls and fishing boats. Thursday, I got to meet with Gary and Christian from Shames Mountain. They assured me the most productive meetings are held on the chairlift. Agreed!

What a amazing trip to Skeena-Bulkley Valley!

It was incredible to see how hard my pal, Taylor Bachrach works and how respected he is in his community. He really cares about the people he represents and it shows!
It was an honour to be invited to Metlakatla for today’s Community Safety Forum and spend a few hours visiting folks in the community. Thanks for a warm welcome on a cold, rainy north coast day.

The totem pole stands in the entryway of France’s Musée du Quai Branly, elegant but somewhat out of place. Strangers breeze past often without a glance.

For nearly a century, the pole has been separated from its people.

Amidst a chaotic day in Ottawa, this appeared on page 248 of the federal government’s Fall Economic Statement. Work remains to make it a reality, but an official federal commitment is a big milestone in our efforts to secure fairness for Haida Gwaii. Congrats to all who worked to reach this point.
A little mountain medicine on a Sunday morning. Everything is better above the clouds.

Air Canada must pay $10,000 to mistreated passengers, Yukon judge says

"[Passengers] who saved for three years for their-one-week vacation were treated shamefully, being moved around without any thought of the effect of this experience [...]."

I’ve initiated 6 days of hearings on whether communities are protected from spills and fires caused by the rail transport of dangerous goods.

Yesterday, I questioned Transport Canada’s officials responsible for dangerous goods and rail safety. Their inability to answer basic questions was shocking

Faced with airlines charging passengers junk fees for basic services like carry-on luggage, the Liberals plan to once again politely ask the CEOs to change their ways.

If only someone had the power to regulate airlines on behalf of Canadians…
Our plan takes the GST off home heating, phone and internet bills, kids’ clothes and more.

We’d make it permanent, too, meaning more savings for families.

(And small biz would only have to change their prices once)

Monday’s the vote.
